UConn Tech Park responded to a call for researchers to shape policies that optimize benefit to Connecticut’s communities, environment, and economy. Interim Executive Director Anagnostou Emmanouil and Professor George Bollas, along with other researchers and academicians, participated in the inaugural "Moving Beyond Implications: Research into Policy" conference at the State Capitol. This event fosters collaboration between policymakers and researchers, promoting evidence-based policymaking in the state. Anagnostou and Bollas presented topics related to the impact of extreme rainfall on water infrastructure and non-carbon-based fuels, respectively, contributing to the dynamic discussion on how scientists can inform future policy decisions for impactful results. It's the culmination of 2 years of intensive research on #local #initiatives and #nontechnological #innovation for #transformation. In this paper ... ?? We define socially innovative experiments [SIX] as transformation levers. ?? We examine the largest sample of SIX ever collected in Austria. ?? We find different patterns between #urban and #rural SIX, pointing to the context-sensitivity of transformation. ?? We show why SIX struggle and what #support they hence need. We conclude with a plea for taking SIX seriously as ?? indicators of gaps in local transformation policy, ?? enablers of more just, climate-resilient and post-growth practices, and ?? contributors to tangible change. The 11th r3.0 International (online) Conference 'Tipping Points on Tipping Points - Building Necessary Collapse Resilience' on September 10/11 has four main themes, each with extraordinary speakers. Session 2, called ‘Municipalities & Bioregions: Place-Based Collapse Resilience.’?2024 marks a conscious shift for r3.0 into a primary focus on place-based engagement, specifically at the nested scales of municipalities and bioregions, as these represent the most promising contexts for navigating collapse with resilience.
