However, true progress is never achieved by conforming to outdated laws or catering to narrow-minded opinions. It requires courage, vision, and a willingness to defy conventional norms in pursuit of a more just and equitable society. To those who seek to obstruct Oxford's noble endeavor, I have only this to say: your ignorance and narrow-mindedness are a hindrance to progress. While you cling to outdated notions of superiority and entitlement, Oxford is leading the way towards a future where all voices are heard, all perspectives are valued, and all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. ICYMI: We've had some terrific wins this month. Top awards at #AERA24 and #14 out of 265 public and private Graduate Schools of Education in U.S. News & World Report rankings. University of California, Berkeley Education Policy and School Psychology programs also ranked high at #13 and #12, respectively. U.S. News & World Report calculated rankings using indicators such as research expenditures, faculty resources, and quality assessments by peer institutions and education professionals. Dean Michelle Young cited Berkeley’s exceptional scholars as key to the school consistently ranking high, saying, “We are drawing on strengths of the greatest public university in the world. In Weeks 3 & 4 of Winter Term, students across all LSE100 themes have been identifying ways in which positive interventions can be made in complex systems in many different sectors. They have been asking: "how do we create lasting change?", "how can academic research influence policy?" and, simply, "where to begin?" In order to answer these questions, students have been developing their knowledge of systems change theory and researching existing policies or campaigns that have attempted to address the focus problem at the heart of their respective LSE100 group research projects. Together, they have drawn up an initial plan for a policy proposal or strategic plan as means to instigate meaningful and positive change to their selected system. Students prepare for this seminar by watching LSE100 video lectures, featuring contributions from: Prof. Lord Nicholas Stern (LSE Department of Economics), Prof. Paul Apostolidis & Andrew McNeil (LSE Department of Government), Prof. Coretta Phillips (Social Policy), Prof. Tim Newburn (Social Policy), Dr. Savvas Verdis (LSE Cities) Dr Manmit Bhambra and Dr. George Maier, PhD.
