One thing I've found helpful (on top of the thoughts shared by other contributors) is having a coach to guide me through my thought process. I've been blessed to have an ex colleague coach me after I lost my job. She helped me to cast a vision of my future self and take accountability for my next actions. She also helped me to realize my God-given value that is independent of the current situation.

A sudden job loss can absolutely shake you up. First, I would allow yourself to feel what is going on with you emotionally. Don't hold it in trying to put on a brave face. That only prolongs any uncomfortable emotions. Often these sudden changes come as an opportunity to realign yourself. Assess how you have been feeling about the current career path you are on. Is there something you need to, or want to shift? One of the biggest perspective shifts that can help with resilience is always remember that this is happening FOR you, and not to you. It's challenging to remember that sometimes. There was likely something in your last job that wasn't actually the best thing for you.

For anyone who faced a sudden job loss, I've been there before. I would advise you finding your resilience by focusing on what you could control. Take this period to go through your resume, furbish it up with new responsibilities and qualifications which you might have recently acquired, reached out to my network, and set daily goals to stay productive. Also take time to reflect and consider new career paths you hadn’t explored before. Keeping a positive mindset and viewing the situation as an opportunity for growth helps you to stay motivated. A key takeaway is to focus on actionable steps and maintain a positive outlook.
