Today is #WorldWaterDay!
World Water Day celebrates water and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis.
In Denmark, we take pride in our heritage of resilience and innovation, evident since the times of our Viking ancestors who mastered the ability to navigate the treacherous seas. Today, we continue this legacy by actively contributing to global efforts, advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
?
Water is our most valuable resource. It sustains life, nourishes ecosystems, drives economies, and is essential for the well-being of every individual and community on our planet.?Denmark is one of the world's leading countries when it comes to the development and supply of solutions and technologies within the water sector.
In 2018, the Danish Trade Council in Dubai initiated the comprehensive Water Efficiency Middle East Alliance (#WEMA) water alliance. WEMA represents the Danish Utility, Aarhus Vand, and a number of Danish Water Technology companies. Together, we represent a holistic view of water infrastructure throughout society, focusing on efficiently saving water and producing energy, turning wastewater into renewable energy, producing electricity, biogas and recover other valuable resources from the sludge, e.g. phosphorus. Many Danish wastewater utilities are net producers of green energy, producing more energy than they consume.
We engage in partnerships, share knowledge/ training and conduct feasibility studies with local stakeholders and water authorities in UAE and KSA with the aim of saving water and energy and a greener tomorrow.
