In Florida, if parents in a 3-person family make over $7,128/year, they are unable to qualify for Medicaid under the state's extremely low income threshold. In fiscal year 2022, every state except Alaska spent a smaller share of its own dollars on Medicaid than they had over the previous 15 years, on average. But the average share of state revenue dedicated to Medicaid is likely to rise in fiscal 2023 and beyond as federal pandemic aid expires and spending pressures mount.
