Indigenous Women have tirelessly mobilized in the fight for their rights. This mobilization was strengthened by the Beijing Declaration of Indigenous Women in 1995. Today, providing resources for Indigenous Women is an essential priority to reduce inequalities and close the existing gap. In the recent presentation of the reports "Global Funding Trend Analysis on Indigenous Peoples Philanthropy” and “Leaders and Stewards: Global Analysis of Funding to Indigenous Women" by International Funders for Indigenous Peoples and FIMI - Foro Internacional de Mujeres Indígenas, the urgent need to support Indigenous Women was emphasized. “Empower. I don’t like that word. Women have inherent power. We just need to ignite them.” - Angela Nguku, Founder and Executive Director, White Ribbon Alliance Kenya Words matter. During today’s Devex MSD for Mothers panel, I was reminded once again why they matter. Women don’t need to be given power because they already have it. Instead, we need the world to listen to powerful women and respond by taking action. Through AMPATH Global and AMPATH Kenya, we are focused on igniting the power of all people by supporting priorities in the communities where we work and responding by connecting resources (people, training, research, etc.) to support those priorities.

As we approach the 10th Anniversary of World NGO Day on February 27th, let's come together to celebrate the monumental contributions of over 10 million nonprofits and the 50 million people powering them globally. This day stands as a testament to the boundless impact and dedication of these organizations and individuals, spanning across 89 countries and breaking barriers to unite us all in a common mission. Soleil Renaud and I will be co-facilitating Yaakaar WHW's International Women's Day event, 'Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: A Global Women's Movement', where we'll explore the journey of women's rights and celebrate diversity. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be given to our partners in Senegal. Join us March 8 at 7pm PST! Register here: https://lnkd.in/eyW-Sfpg ??? Happy International Women's Day! ??? Today, we're celebrating the incredible women we have the privilege of working with, both here in Canada and in Senegal. From our courageous grassroots leaders to the bright young women we support, each one inspires us with their resilience and determination. Did you know that while women outnumber men in post-secondary education in Canada, they are still significantly underrepresented in STEM fields? Indigenous and racialized women face barriers to pursuing higher education, contributing to this disparity. In Senegal, despite progress in improving school enrollment rates, only 20% of rural girls complete secondary education, while boys' dropout rates are significantly lower at 34.5%. Challenges such as distance to schools, lack of transportation, early marriage, and household responsibilities often force girls to leave school before completing their education, perpetuating the cycle of inequity. These education disparities highlight the importance of this year's International Women's Day theme, 'Inspire Inclusion'. At Yaakaar Women Helping Women, we believe that empowering women through education is key to creating a more inclusive society. By breaking down barriers to education and economic empowerment, we're building bridges towards a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. Together, let's inspire inclusion and create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. ???? #InternationalWomensDay #InspireInclusion #BreakingBarriers #WomenEmpoweringWomen

Within our organization, we place great importance on the well-being of our team. Why are these moments of relaxation so essential to us? Simply because we firmly believe that strengthening our bonds of friendship and feeling valued and respected by one another is crucial for our individual and collective growth. We aspire for our workplace to be much more than a mere chore. We strive to create a true family, a place where each person can express their negative or positive emotions and let them dissipate in a safe and trusting environment. These moments of relaxation are specifically designed with this in mind. We have observed that these breaks and sharing sessions are incredibly beneficial. They allow us to recharge, strengthen our connections, and foster a positive dynamic within our team. We are convinced that these moments of relaxation are a valuable investment for our network. By reinforcing our solidarity and mutual support, we increase our productivity and our ability to inspire change. We will continue organizing these moments of relaxation and ensure that every member of the network feels valued, supported, and fulfilled. Because we firmly believe in the power of female solidarity and the importance of taking care of ourselves in order to better care for others. #untoldstories 16th Day of #womenhistorymonth As we commemorate another significant step towards a more tranquil society, today we applaud the extraordinary contributions of the Kitui Women Peace and Security organization (KWPS). Established by a group of determined women from the 8 sub-counties, KWPS exemplifies grassroots activism. They believe that change starts from the ground up, and that every voice, however small, can inspire transformative action. KWPS is dedicated to eradicating violence against women and girls. In a world marred by conflict and suffering, where women often endure untold horrors in silence, KWPS courageously advocates for them. Kitui Women Peace and Security organization (KWPS) based in the rugged beauty of the Kitui region, isn't limited to giving a platform to the marginalized. It actively drives transformative change. By working directly with communities, KWPS enables women to take back control of their lives, overcome obstacles, and insist on their inclusion in decision making processes that affect their peace and well-being.
