No Veteran in this country should be homeless. No Veteran should be without Healthcare. The citizens owe those that volunteer to serve. If we are unwilling to do so, then all citizens should have to serve for 2yrs, male or female. A very small minority of our fellow citizens serve in our military. They should be paid better than civil servants. They should receive proper housing benefits, especially if they have a family. They should NEVER have to be on food stamps because their military pay does not cover their ability to put food on the table. I propose that all active duty military be given a food allowance. They should be trained in a military job as well as a position that will allow them to transition to the civilian sector while they serve. I propose that would assist in decreasing the joblessness and homelessness in the Veteran population.

On this Veterans Day, let’s remember that those who suffer from respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD deserve real action, not just words. Too often, we see arguments based on opinions rather than on the data and standards needed to protect public health. Let’s prioritize clean air, water, food, stricter environmental standards, and preventive measures over quick fixes. The health of veterans and civilians alike should not be compromised by pollutants and harmful products. Wake up, America—the path forward is through sustainable change, not temporary solutions.

Thinking about military life reminds me of life before and after having kids. It wasn't necessarily easier, but it was simpler in so many ways. I see a lot of veterans deploying multiple times, drawn back to that simplicity. But it's more than that—it's the deep sense of purpose and connection that military life brings. In the military, you're never alone. Every task, every mission, you're with your squad. You build intimate, unbreakable bonds with the people around you. So, after service, transitioning to civilian life can feel like a shock. Suddenly, that constant connection is gone, and it can be hard to adjust to the isolation that follows.
