Employment Opportunity - Louisville Market - New Accounts Bank Representative Monticello Bank is seeking a full-time New Accounts Representative to work in our Louisville office. Job role responsibilities: Meet with existing and potential customers to determine their banking needs and recommend appropriate accounts. Opens a variety of new accounts including Checking, IRA, Certificate of Deposit, etc. Provides information and answers questions regarding interest rates, fees, and bank policies. Provide appropriate referrals to cross-sell a variety of bank services. Maintain an active knowledge base of account types, services, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Serves as the bank’s primary new accounts representative. Backup to the teller line as needed. Job qualification requirements are: Two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associates’ degree preferred. Possess exceptional service skills, professionalism, and maintains confidentiality. Strong organizational and critical thinking skills. Meticulous. Computer skills include the ability to work in a Windows based system. Knowledge of effective customer service methods and practices. Just got off the phone with someone from 'my bank'. Except he wasn't. It was a young man with a north England accent claiming to be from the Starling fraud department, and he was calling to help prevent me from losing lots of money. All I had to do was approve a payment so it could be refunded. I tell you what though.. he was good. Very smooth talking, had an answer for everything, even the fact that Starling Bank clearly states it would never ask you to approve a payment over the phone. I congratulated him on such great work and he hung up. Which is a shame. I was going to offer him a job. The skills he demonstrated on the call would earn him a great salary+commission as a legitimate sales person for a real company that provides value to people. I am always confused by phone scammers. They work incredibly hard, gathering data, making calls non stop all day, maintaining a positive attitude, following a script. Born sales people. Why don't they just do that instead of trying to rip people off? Maybe we could start some kind of support group for ex phone scammers, helping them to transition into sales roles? Check Fraud Thoughts (Consumer Education): This week I talked with a banker about their ongoing challenges with check fraud and efforts to educate their customers. The financial institution recently analyzed their commercial customer base and identified their "check-intensive" customers. Dividing this group into three tiers, bank staff have been visiting the first group and talking to them about the risk of check fraud and preventative actions, offering services like positive pay, and encouraging the customers to consider direct deposit options for payroll accounts. Not only are they helping the customer, but they have also sold additional products and services that will make their bank more profitable. Win-Win!
