The incredible advancements in AI we've seen wouldn't be possible without today’s pioneers, and their work is foundational. That being said, there is still a lot to be done to advance the field. Consider the following piece of code, taken from a well known repository for LLMs. My cofounder and I have spent hours reverse engineering, trying to solve a bug we’ve encountered. ``` ????# "-2" is hardcoded for the Llama tokenizer to make the offset correct. ????instruction_len = len(tokenizer(parts[0]).input_ids) - 2 ``` This hardcoding, a kind of “shortcut”, caused issues when we used a different model, revealing a lack of flexibility and documentation in the original design. This is only a simple instance of a pattern common in research based solutions. Research often focuses on "making it work" rather than "making it work reliably in production”. Much like a brilliant inventor may not be the best at mass-producing their creations, or a talented writer might struggle with publishing and marketing their book, being a researcher doesn’t automatically equip you to turn code into a polished, production-ready product. And that’s perfectly okay! This gap is at the heart of AI adoption. With countless models and strategies still not production-ready, the next phase of AI demands not just innovation but integration into robust, scalable systems. It's a phase where software engineers and architects play a critical role, applying best practices that ensure reliability and usability. For developers and tech enthusiasts: the future of AI isn't just about using it but understanding and shaping it. This isn't a futuristic dream—it's the reality ushered in by the power of Large Language Models (LLMs). The pace at which #GenAI technology is evolving is nothing short of awe-inspiring, and I'm thrilled to share a real-world demonstration (see video) that highlights this transformational shift. A Glimpse into the Future The task? To create a stock technical analysis application on the fly. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. From Concept to Reality in Minutes - Requirement Gathering: This is essentially prompt creation. - Code Generation: Leveraging the #code generation capability of LLMs, the complete code was generated in a mere 40 seconds. - Application Setup: It took another 25 seconds to set up the application. - First Output: Within another 20 seconds, the app produced its first output. In less than two minutes, a fully functional #stock technical analysis app was up and running. The sheer speed and efficiency of this process are game-changing. There was no need for lengthy sales pitches or protracted development cycles—just immediate delivery of a tangible product. Sales teams in the LLM world are redundant? A New Approach to Product Development This demonstration is a testament to the disruptive potential of #LLMs. I believe the approach to #product development is going to dramatically shift. We now have the capability to build and iterate with customers on the fly. This means real-time feedback, instant adjustments, and a more dynamic, responsive development cycle. The new age will be of "Generative Product Development," moving towards "Build Your Own Products." The world is on the brink of a significant transformation due to #AI, and LLMs are at the forefront. The ability to deliver a product within the span of a meeting is just one example of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.
