???? ALERT: I know you want another episode: “People want a sense of purpose, significance, & impact in both workplace & community. Having one and not the other isn't enough. People want both.” - Jason Story In this episode of the Max Loves Midland Show, Host Kevin LaDuke sits down with Jason Story, the Director of Talent and Small Business Initiatives for the Midland Business Alliance. They dive deep into a comprehensive framework for the retention, attraction, and development of talents (RAD TALENT, Y'ALL) in the Midland area. Do something that adds value and starts conversations instead of building a community. Whether we're cultivating our own space or engaging in broader networks, the key to a thriving community lies in the value we provide. Just listened to Mark Kilens drop some serious knowledge in his segment of WTF News from Hubilo. It reminds me that when I started posting here 4 years ago, I wasn't trying to build a community. My goal? Add value where I can and build relationships with actual people. So many people post and ghost on here. It's kind of a shame, really, from big-name creators. What did I end up getting? A community that came after years of delivering value. At the end of the day, the way you're going to build a community, whether you have ownership of it or if it's something happening more within a network or networks of people already, is adding value, and that value leads to conversations. Shoutout to Blair Arbuckle for another dope episode of WTF News. I'll be tuning in for episode 3, will you? PS: If you missed the episode today and trust me, you'll def wanna watch it. I'm gonna drop the on-demand version down below.

"You need to put in as much as you get out in order for your customers to feel the value, and feel valued as humans and as customers." - Lauren Turner Leaders who understand the intrinsic value tied to community and advocacy efforts see beyond the immediate and recognize that cultivating these areas is not merely an expense but a strategic investment that, over time, translates into real ROI. But it requires a vision that looks beyond the short-term gains. and focuses on building genuine relationships. While it's tempting to want to shortcut the process, the essence of building a thriving community lies in patience and providing substantial value—beyond transactional interactions—to customers. As Lauren says, building a community and fostering advocacy is not a quick flip of the switch. It demands dedication, resources, and most importantly, time. But don't underestimate the power of community. It's about investing in people, valuing their contributions, and engaging them in a way that feels genuinely rewarding. Hear more on the importance of investing in experienced talent to manage your communities. Episode with Lauren Turner available on Spotify now. https://spoti.fi/3vqw09p

When it comes to making a connection, small details can make a big difference. Lon and Cory discuss the importance of paying attention and personalizing our interactions. Here's why it matters: 1?? Humanizing the conversation: Taking note of someone's personal interests or displays in their space shows genuine care and interest in them as individuals. 2?? Creating common ground: Even if we don't have a universal connection, finding something that resonates with the other person can bridge the gap and establish rapport. 3?? Genuine intent: Authenticity is key. Approaching with curiosity and a sincere desire to connect goes a long way. Next time you walk into a meeting or engage in conversation, keep these principles in mind. Take a moment to observe, listen, and find common threads that humanize the interaction.
