After the Cape Cod regional cabinet meeting, we visited Brian McCutcheon, founder of “Wet Vet,” a Falmouth nonprofit supporting veterans’ mental health through fishing. Secretary Santiago joined Brian and Captain Skip Baldini on a charter excursion, witnessing firsthand how this innovative program builds community and aids in mental health recovery. We encourage everyone to learn more about Wet Vet and Brian’s incredible work by visiting their website: https://www.wet-vet.com

There is a nationwide crisis in children and young people’s mental health. Demand for mental health services is drastically outstripping current provision and children and young people are being met with inaccessible support, rejected referrals and extreme wait times. The crisis impacts the entire nation, and the Government must act now.? ?? That’s why we are supporting the Children and Young People's Mental Health Coalition in calling for all parties to make a strong political commitment to improve mental health outcomes for all babies, children, and young people to build a healthier and prosperous society.? ?? Children must be at the heart of the next Government. With other leading UK children's charities, we launched our campaign #ChildrenAtTheTable earlier this month to call for all political parties to commit to investing in children's needs including mental health. Former Small Business owerner Currently a Volunteer Crisis Counselor working to save one life at a time
As you may or may not know I volunteer with the NYC American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - New York City Chapter One of the things I do are presentations. One is "Talk Saves Lives" which is slide deck on mental health and suicide. It's an excellent deck on understanding suicide and what we all can do to #suicideprevention Its focus is for adults. Perfect for your organization, group, work, etc. Can be done over Zoom. The other one I've been doing is called "It's Real". This is for middle school, high school, and college students. Its focus is on mental health. I've given it and though kids seem to drift into space I will say each time I got a huge round of applause. Not apple sauce. The link below will hook you up with a Program Request Form. If you would share this far and wide. Think about it for your org, church, community center, etc. You can request a program at the link below.

When vital resources are scarce, resilience can be tested. Trauma, in its various forms, can deeply impact individuals. Experiencing homelessness is traumatic on its own, but receiving irrelevant resources can exacerbate the situation. At GLM House Inc, we prioritize Trauma-Informed Care by implementing best practices.

Resilience is the ability to adapt and face life’s challenges with determination and hope. Understanding that self-reliance and a do-it-yourself mindset are common among many people who live in rural America, the National Grange and Rural Minds have partnered to develop the Rural Mental Health Resilience Program. This newly launched program is a collection of mental health resources and training to help rural residents become part of the solution to improving rural mental health and preventing suicide in their communities. The Rural Mental Health Resilience Program materials can also be used by community groups that may be interested in conducting meetings to raise awareness and educate their members and the public about mental health. Learn more and access the free program materials here: https://bit.ly/40mJY7i. Rural Minds depends on your donations to develop and distribute free educational information and training materials to help improve mental health in rural America, such as the Rural Mental Health Resilience Program. Please donate to Rural Minds this holiday season to help us help others by confronting the mental health emergency in rural America and ending the stigma that surrounds mental illness: https://bit.ly/3sky3Km #RuralMentalHealth #RuralResilience #RuralMinds

?? Over a third of UK people sought mental health advice last year, but what about those who felt they couldn’t reach out? What about those who didn’t receive the help they desperately needed? In the UK and the Republic of Ireland, 17 people take their own lives each day. That’s 17 people too many. ?? Today our friends and charitable partners BatonOfHopeUK are holding their very first national conference - Making Suicide Prevention Everyone’s Business - which aims to not only break the stigma around suicide but inspire communities to be proactively involved in suicide prevention. For over 100 years, Westfield Health have been dedicated to making a healthy difference to the quality of life of our customers and the communities in which they live and work. And from the first moment we heard about Baton of Hope — through a colleague who heard Mike McCarthy speak and put forward the request to our Westfield One Giving Back Committee — we knew it was something special. When it comes to suicide prevention, we all need to do more. We need to keep talking about suicide. We need to understand how we as individuals and collectively as a society can help more people survive mental health challenges. That’s exactly what Baton of Hope stands for, and we’re incredibly proud to be supporting this conference. ?? Baton of Hope is more than an organisation. It’s a movement. It’s about joining together across the community to make real change. It’s about saving lives. #BatonOfHope2024 #PassItOn #WestfieldOne #BatonOfHopeUK #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness

Realizing that mental health issues can impact anyone of us - directly or indirectly- is a first step toward caring. A second step is taking action to help others. Supporting programs that provide hands on help to people and families struggling with the aftermath of something so traumatic as suicide is a great way to connect caring with action. #MentalHealthAwareness
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to support Kimberli’s Place Foundation, Inc, a local organization here in Charlotte dedicated to bridging the gap in suicide prevention and mental health services. Their work is vital in providing much-needed resources and support to our community. We encourage others to learn more about Kimberli's Place and consider how you can contribute to this important cause. Together, we can make a difference. #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportLocal #SuicidePrevention #CommunityCare https://lnkd.in/eqUR-emN
