Ahead of submitting of the Massachusetts 2025-2027 Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization Plan on October 31, the Sponsors of Mass Save are pleased to have received unanimous support from the Energy Efficiency Advisory Council (EEAC). This transformational three-year plan includes almost $5 billion of energy efficiency investments, aiming to deliver $13 billion in total benefits to customers, communities and businesses across the Commonwealth that will prioritize equity and accelerate the clean energy transition. The plan includes over $4.7 billion in equity benefits and $615 million in incentives for renters. The result of more than 18 months of impactful conversations with community stakeholders, this final draft plan serves as a roadmap to help the state reach its climate goals by delivering savings, enhancing program access for all, and strengthening the clean energy workforce. Thank you to the Healey-Driscoll Administration, the Attorney General's Office, the EEAC, and many others for your continued support of these efforts. Thrilled yesterday to see Josie Osborne release BC's Clean Energy Strategy. This document (https://lnkd.in/gy6CVM2F) represents work that's been underway for a year now, as staff and elected leaders try to bring together the thicket of issues, opportunities, and players in the BC energy landscape. With over 13,000 construction jobs expected annually from the rollout of BC Hydro's capital plan alone, this strategy starts to frame up the really exciting opportunities that are coming from the transition to net zero in BC. Three major takeaways for me from this document: 1. It rightfully integrates affordability, competitiveness, and reconciliation as part of the ways in which we will achieve net zero by 2050. These are not just nice-to-haves, but will make achieving that goal worthwhile and possible. 2. It lays out the context of our energy system very clearly and, for example, that it is industrial loads (due to major projects) that are one of our largest sources of growth (e.g., from 1000 MW in 2019 to 6500~ MW in 2023). 3. It notes the need for an implementation plan, co-developed with actors across BC to achieve the aims in this document. There's much more work to do, but this is an important start to move our energy agenda forward in BC in a meaningful and progressive way.

Great summary on the new Clean Energy Strategy for BC by George Patrick Richard Benson. I would add that this kind of approach keeps BC competitive and attractive on the global stage. The transition to a clean energy future can be tricky and major economies can be left behind if they don't act. Great leadership here by Josie Osborne and the team at BC Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation.

Pleased to see the commitment to meeting growth and a clean energy environment for BC. However, sadly yet again a huge sector of opportunity is not recognized nor mentioned towards how thermal energy networks can reduce the demands on our Electrical and Gas utilities by centralizing and optimizing decarbonization of our existing and future buildings via the use and development of low carbon (net zero) thermal energy networks also known as district energy systems. #districtenergy

Arizona utility regulators are currently considering repealing the state's existing renewable-energy and energy-efficiency rules, a move that could have far-reaching implications. As we reflect on this potential decision, it is crucial to recognize the immense benefits of energy efficiency and highlight the importance of preserving these standards. The Arizona Corporation Commission has voted to draft rules that would repeal the Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff, which requires state-regulated electric utilities to generate 15% of their energy from renewable resources by 2025. While the commissioners leading the effort argue that the standards are costly for ratepayers, there is substantial evidence to the contrary. Energy efficiency programs have proven to be highly effective, resulting in billions of dollars in savings for consumers by reducing energy consumption and minimizing the need for new power plants. In fact, Arizona utilities have reported that every $1 spent on energy efficiency programs between 2010 and 2022 returned $3.64 in benefits. Moreover, energy efficiency initiatives not only protect ratepayers from excessive costs but also drive economic growth. Arizona is home to more than 42,000 energy efficiency workers, demonstrating the job creation potential of this sector. By repealing the renewable-energy and efficiency standards, Arizona risks missing out on the enormous benefits these programs offer. It puts our environment, public health, and wallets at stake. Instead, we should be strengthening these standards, encouraging utilities to embrace sustainability and energy efficiency investments. Let's remember that energy efficiency isn't just a burden; it's an opportunity to shape a brighter future for Arizona. By preserving and expanding these standards, we send a strong message in favor of sustainability and economic resilience. Together, let's prioritize energy efficiency and work towards a cleaner, more prosperous future. #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #GreenFuture

Illinois Clean Energy Sectors Unite to Slash Ratepayer Costs by $3 Billion with Grid Upgrade Illinois clean energy industries are coming together to support HB5856 and SB3959, legislation aimed at future-proofing the state’s energy grid and economy. These bills will help reduce consumer costs, achieve climate goals, create sustainable jobs, and address the growing risk of blackouts. By establishing the first clean energy storage procurement mandate in Illinois, the legislation aims to enhance grid reliability and overcome obstacles to renewable energy development. HB5856/SB3959 is projected to save consumers $30 a month on energy bills, prevent over $7 billion in blackout-related costs, and generate up to $16 billion in economic benefits. “Clean energy is the future, […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dBqcD8ef #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #america #americancleanpowerassociation(acp) #northamerica #renewableenergy #renewableenergy #solarenergy #unitedstates

Renewable energy advocates in Minnesota and Michigan are celebrating recent legislative successes. In Minnesota, the legislature passed the Minnesota Energy Infrastructure Permitting Act, which streamlines the permitting process for wind, solar, battery storage, and transmission line projects, reducing wait times by up to nine months. The reforms aim to help Minnesota achieve its 100% clean energy goal by 2040. Meanwhile, in Michigan, a controversial ballot initiative to roll back the Clean Energy Future Plan failed, preserving a law that mandates 100% carbon-free energy by 2040 and offers significant economic benefits, such as allocating $2,000 per MW to be used for police, fire, and infrastructure needs in local communities. #EnergyReform #CleanEnergy #Renewables https://ow.ly/XIum50SrJ27
