Between rising health costs, the price of housing and the growing need for care, there's never been a more challenging time to find affordable senior living. That's why I'm proud to announce that thanks to a new partnership with the Masonic Homes California Prince Hall Masons and their families are now able to access a wide range of services, from assisted living apartments to children's mental help. And even better, many of these services are offered as Masonic Relief, meaning you and your family can get help when you need it, no matter your financial situation. The Masonic Homes of California offers a wide range of services, all available to eligible California Prince Hall Masons and their family. That includes 2 senior living communities located in Union City in the Bay Area and in Covina just outside Los Angeles. These world class retirement communities include options for independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing for those dealing with other serious health conditions. The Masonic Homes also includes Masonic Outreach Services which helps Maces and their loved ones access in home senior care, local providers and prescription drug discounts. Among other services, there's also the Masonic Center for Youth and Families, which provides mental health care, therapy and educational assessments for children, families and seniors. MC YF sees clients throughout the state remotely and has branches in San Francisco and Covina. This is an opportunity for California Prince Hall Masons and for all Masons in California to come together around. Wonderful partnership. I couldn't be more excited, all of these. Services are available to California Prince Hall Masons and their family members, and for the first time, many are offered to eligible applicants. Thanks to the charitable dollars of generations of Masons, no brother will ever be turned away for lack of funds. By strengthening our connection with the Masons of California, we have made this important partnership possible and can now bring the services and expertise of Masonic Homes of California to the California Prince Hall Masons. As Masons, we take an obligation to care for one. Another now more than ever, that means lending a hand in securing senior care. I couldn't be more proud to partner with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of California to expand this program. We know Isaac Relief isn't just about supporting Mason, it's about everyone around them. So if your parents or in laws are in need of service, the Cyclones of California will be there to support them too. Entry into the Masonic Homes retirement communities is available to Masons who are 60 and over and who have been in good standing for the last five or more years, as well as their spouses, widows, parents and parents in law. Masonic Outreach Services and MCYF are open to all Maces and their families on a sliding scale basis depending on members needs. The Masonic home is so much more than a retirement home. There's really something here for almost everyone, no matter how old you are. Or what your needs are? What is a CCRC? In the Senior Living industry, you need to know what this is. CCRC stands for continuing care retirement community. It’s basically a one-stop shop for residents. Typically, when seniors move into a CCRC, they start at the independent status. Most CCRC’s will accommodate a resident with a 1400 sf cottage. I’ve personal seen a fair amount and they are amazing! A CCRC is appealing to families, because their loved one doesn’t ever have to move again. That’s comforting and reassuring, but it definitely comes at a cost. A buy-in for a CCRC will range from $50,000 to $500,000. This could be a stumbling block for some. There are so many viable options for seniors who need care. When vulnerable people are forced to move from their safe haven (home), what happens to their spirit? I'm looking to connect with more providers of care in the home / domicialliary care to make care in the home possible, for longer. WHY? Well...May 4th would have been my grandad's 92nd birthday! I love looking back through photos and enjoying the memories, but the later ones make me feel so sad. His home was his safe place. He always said, "I was born here and I'll die here!" How morbid we all thought, BUT when I birthed my two youngest babies at home, I started to see his point of view. Home is where people should feel relaxed, safe and at their happiest...when all is well. Once Grandad's home was no longer suitable for his needs he went to hospital after hospital, nursing home after nursing home....there just aren't enough spaces to give people the care they need and adaptations aren't always easy. He'd always been sharp, funny and intelligent, loved crosswords and puzzles. Soon that side of him disappeared, his eyes had changed. Now, every week I see houses like this, some with a person's last meal in the sink. People scared to spend on their homes in case they spend their children's inheritence. It drives me to help more families, to steer my company in a direction that can make an even bigger impact when it really matters. So... Yes, it's important to refurbish tired and run down properties to create great quality housing for new families - I'm still continuing with that! Yes, I still love staging properties for sale and helping people get the sale they deserve. But, just like my parents are preparing their home to be a well-planned and adapted property into their twilight years (they're actually spring chickens still), I plan to help other families do the same. To help families understand that spending money on improving a property to enable comfortable living, long into retirement is actually an INVESTMENT... AND in can enable care in the home which protects your property and in my opinion, well-being for longer.
