November 20th is GIS day! GIS day celebrates the incredible power of geographic information systems (GIS) to solve real-world problems by promoting spatial awareness and technology. MB&G uses GIS for our forestry and environmental work to help with forest management, restoration, field and remote sensing data collection, and mapping to develop detailed specifications for vegetation and fuel treatments. Another exciting video about the joint Arup and SCALGO module, NatureInsight. In this video I explain some of the features we have developed that make NatureInsight unique (other than the fact I'm wearing the same shirt as I did in my previous post ??♂? ): ?? Interactive nature-based solutions opportunity map ?? Explore alternative options in stakeholder or landowner engagement ?? Edit the map directly based on local knowledge and expertise ?? Develop business cases using the calculated costs and benefits ?? Model the benefits to catchment flows using in-built hydrology tools Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eAyagR5j #naturebasedsolutions #floodriskmanagement #carbonsequestration #climatemitigation #habitatrestoration #climateresilience

Every construction project gives us the opportunity to reinforce biodiversity and the natural processes that mitigate climate change. But design teams are often already saturated with the countless design considerations that have always been front and center, like procurement, schedule, cost and operational performance. NatureInsight shows how digital tooling can reduce the friction inherent in adding new design considerations. It performs a rapid spatial evaluation to drill down to core opportunities provided by the site context. It helps busy teams quickly consider enhancements they can make to combat climate change and boost local ecology. Excited to see these recent advancements in the user interface.
