For as long as I can remember, European insurers (and I still consider UK to be part of Europe:) have been taking the relentless progress and innovation around products and distribution done by their Asian counterparts with a relatively large grain of salt, using underdevelopment and lack of sophistication of the Asian insurance markets as sort of excuses and reasons why similar things would not be possible here in Europe. So it’s even more exhilarating to see lots of insurers and channels in #Japan, third largest (after US and China) and probably the most conservative insurance market in the world, embracing InsureMO to drive their ecosystem connectivity and digital footprint across many verticals - way to go #Europe!

Levelling up embedded insurance distribution through strategic partnerships ? Recently, I took the stage at Insurtech Insights to talk about ‘Leveraging partnerships in distribution’ – a panel hosted by Lisa Wardlaw (360 Digital Immersion ), along with industry experts Masashi Namatame (Tokio Marine Group), Dan Bratshpis (INSHUR) and Domingos Bruges (Habit). Here are the key points I took from the discussion: ?? Non-insurance companies are starting to think differently about insurance, seeing it more as part of their core value proposition and less as a side product. ?? As these companies become more digital and global, so do their insurance programs. Traditional insurers can leverage the tech expertise of insurtechs to offer their customers a better experience, while insurtechs can benefit from the stability and experience of risk carriers. ?? Embedded insurance, along with the rise of AI, can reduce distribution costs and expenses, making insurance more accessible and valuable for end customers. Ultimately, I believe that strategic alliances between traditional insurers and insurtechs create a win-win situation and a richer insurance ecosystem. Modernising insurance, selling tech into insurance. It’s a toughie! Good panel discussion at the Insurtech UK conference yesterday on this topic. Some headlines; ??Wholesale rip & replacement solutions are not the way to go. Niche offerings as part of a wider tech ecosystem will get more traction. Keep listening and researching to find your value, tweak and pivot as needed. ??Don’t blindly demo tech to insurers. From the get-go (meeting #1 ) eek out the prospect’s need/problem and stay focussed on how your solution answers that need throughout the sales cycle. ??Break your solution down into smaller buyable bits. Get a foothold and build and scale from there. ?? Most clients need to achieve impact within a financial year or limited plan period so ensure your investment ask and reward fits with this. Focus on boosting their bonus. ?? Find a champion client but bear in mind the window of opportunity can be short before a structural change upsets your progress. Great facilitation Adrian Leonard .
