CEO & Cofounder of LION Specialty | Helping Underserved Financial Institutions Access Global Market Insurance Solutions | Specializing in Corporate Liability & C-Suite Personal Asset Protection

The exact moment our (insurance) industry made total sense to me. It was when I realized everything… …we do as insurance brokers, is to prepare our clients for it. That moment in time. Side note, we’re putting the finishing touches on our first new Wednesday newsletter edition. It’s going to be all about claims. The issues that drag out. How to improve the general claims management process. Narratives drawn from experience. Claims advocacy. It will be skimmable. And it won’t be boring! As we’ve been writing the Wednesday newsletter… …I’ve been reflecting on my experiences with countless claims. It’s hard not to go to that first one. That one for me…is where I saw it all come together. Our platform. The support tools. The annual stress testing. The process. The relationships! The stress our client was going through was tremendous. I’ll never forget it. It was one of their worst moments. Oddly, it was (and still is) our moment to shine. A…Claim. “Capital C Claim,” as lawyers say. My first one was a doozy. To this day, it has shaped the way I service clients. It shapes the mission of our team LION Specialty “Everything we do is to prepare our clients for claims…” Do you think it’s the entire job of an insurance broker? Give it a “like,” if you agree? Repost this if you think it can help people in your network. And follow me Mark Flippen and my cofounder, Natasha I. Kiemnec, ARM for more daily solid insurance gold

Mark Flippen you’re on point! Everyone involved in selling a policy to the insured should ensure the insured understands everything there’s about the claims and their coverages. Everyone involved from Day 1 of a claims needs to ensure claimant / policyholder understands everything about what’s not covered and what they can do to fairly compensate them.

As risk professionals we buy “claims policies” not insurance policies. Everyone wants to focus on the underwriting to get the “best deal.” The “best deal” is when the claim is covered.
