When I recently uploaded this wedding video, it was immediately upgraded by YouTube to "18+ only". It's "Marketing the Rainbow" from last century. What do you think? The closing text says "Think before you commit yourself" - it's about a mobile telecom company.?The joke is mwah, the quality is so "25 years ago" - but I think it has potential. https://lnkd.in/eD2BAJsK #MarketingTheRainbow #GayMarketing #LGBT #gayadvertising

Travel has long been a powerful tool for personal growth, exploration, and connection. For many within the transgender community, traveling can transcend mere exploration of new places and serve as a bridge to deeper understanding, solidarity, and unity. As a travel host with Trova Trip, I believe in the transformative potential of travel, particularly for us as trans individuals, our significant others, and allies. But how does this happen? Let's dig deeper and explore how travel fosters community, builds resilience, and can strengthen unity among the trans community.

Our response to VISIT FLORIDA’s decision to remove the LGBTQ+ Travel section from its website: ???“Our research shows that over 80% of LGBTQ+ travelers from the US view Florida as somewhat or very unwelcoming. Removing resources that specifically address the needs and concerns of LGBTQ+ travelers could further deter this vital market segment. That said, we also want to reiterate that IGLTA has many member businesses and destinations throughout Florida that value inclusion. We will always support them in their efforts to make LGBTQ+ travelers feel welcomed and safe," John Tanzella (he/him). ???? The IGLTA Foundation's recent report, “State Policy Impact on LGBTQ+ Tourism,” highlights the significant economic contributions of LGBTQ+ travelers. Inclusive tourism benefits everyone—let's work together to showcase Florida’s diverse and LGBTQ+ friendly businesses! Check out the report here: https://lnkd.in/eqhjmGgi ??? "The Netherlands has a reputation for windmills, tulips, and wooden clogs, and for the adventurous, the Red Light District and coffee shops where you can get more than just a caffeine boost. But did you know that the Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage? This vanguard legislation made 2001 a hallmark year in LGBTQ+ history. The Dutch have a reputation for valuing freedom of expression and life outside of work. Perhaps it’s these cultural values that have created a safe space for queer people. Traveling somewhere where predominantly queer people can exist without being discriminated against means something. Imagine taking up space where you’re not expected to be quiet about who you are. What an excellent foundation for the art and culture of drag to thrive. The best drag tells a story, often pulling from personal experiences, and shares a specific message. Dutch drag artists use every piece of material and make-up technique to express the depths of themselves. Truly, the forethought and courage that go into a drag depiction or persona, can you say visionary?".

International Trainer, Public Speaker & Seminar Facilitator: Sociologist, DEIA, Ethical Decision Making & Risk Management, Conscious Communication (NVC), 2SLGBTQIA, Learning Styles (T4T)
I received an invitation this morning to attend an event and wanted to share my response so that those of you who are holding events can have this awareness. Please know and understand the mental gymnastics many 2SLGBTQIA people may go through when we really want to attend something. Here's an inside look. "Dear Sally, Your event looks amazing. Sadly, I cannot attend anything in FL as it is not safe for many 2SLGBTQIA people there. You may not be aware but FL and some other states are places where our very existence can be illegal when people discover who we are. For example, as a transgender man, there is not a place where I can safely use the restroom in the venue you have selected. I looked at the venue carefully and I would be forced to use the women's washroom and could be assaulted and/or potentially arrested, depending on one's interpretation of the law there, if I used the men's washroom because it does not match my gender assignment at birth. The NAACP, Equity Florida, the Canadian Government and others have issued travel warnings for us and others. See attached video. I am sharing this with you because for transgender and non binary people, if we are selecting events, we can't attend some because it is not safe for some of us. After researching your venue, I have determined it is not safe for me. I can hide and not share my identity but that feels terrible for different reasons. Many trans and nonbinary people cannot hide, even if they wanted to. And, still, I would be so afraid someone would find out that I am transgender and share with the wrong person which could result in me being harassed for using my correct pronouns or using the washroom, never mind physical or verbal violence that may be directed at me. I invite your organization to consider these things in planning for the future. Many 2SLGBTQIA people won't go to several US states for those reasons. Most won't say anything or explain why for safety (emotional or physical or both) reasons. Rather, we will just not attend but that is a loss for your event and for us. I live in a very safe state and have privilege and a thriving public speaking business. So, speaking up likely will not harm me. So, I choose to use my voice where others cannot. Please feel free to share this with your event organizers. There are currently 12 anti LGBTQ bills in FL including the "Don't say Gay" laws, bathroom laws, never mind a Governor who does not believe I exist. There are 479 anti 2SLGBTQIA bills in the USA today. As a result, many queer people are careful to watch where they are safe to travel. I hope you have a lovely event. I also hope this was helpful." For further information, you can track anti 2SLGBTQIA laws at the Human Rights Campaign website and many others.

LGBTQ+ travel is no longer relegated to the world of uninspired bus tours. Gay travelers are seeking more sophisticated and costly adventures! With so many companies operating remotely since the pandemic plus the modern ability to manage banking, homes and pretty much everything from afar travelers are feeling empowered to live their best lives through extended periods of away time. The growth of LGBTQ+ travel from alternative afterthought into major economic driver has been fostered by the expanding legal recognition of rights globally and the increased cultural acceptance of LGBTQ+ media and marketing! Research firm Reports and Insights forecasts that by the end of 2030, the global LGBTQ+ tourism market will be worth $568.5 billion, which represents approximately one and a half times the present market capitalization of the entire U.S. airline industry.
