For those in the Central Texas area, the City of Dripping Springs recently passed a revised, updated, Landscape and Tree Preservation Ordinance. A few key takeaways: * Prohibiting the removal of heritage trees, or trees of specific sizes that are 18 inches or larger. * Limiting the removal of standard trees, or trees of specific species between 8 and 18 inches. * Encouraging drip irrigation - allowing water to drip to plant roots -and lessening the live grass turf. * Prohibiting sprinklers that cause water flows over sidewalks, streets, and other non-vegetated areas. The City has scheduled a Zoom virtual town hall meeting to go over the ordinance with builders and planners on March 21 @ 4:00 p.m. The link to the Zoom meeting is in the story below which is the City's press release. The assumption is not to ask for input into the ordinance's language but rather (again assuming) to go over the requirements and take questions regarding compliance. I believe that the DS Water Supply Corporation was involved or at least consulted in the drafting of this ordinance based on various conversations that I had with people around town. https://lnkd.in/g52zbVYh
