Increased dividend and sold out on capacity for 2024! We deliver on our commitment to our shareholders. The Gram Car Carriers Board of Directors has approved a dividend USD 0.979 per share for Q4 2023 in line with our policy to distribute 75% of net profit. This is our eight quarter in a row with increased distributions, up 52% from Q3 2023, following strong operational performance and cash generation from a near record revenue backlog and value generating asset transactions. For the full-year 2023, the total dividend distribution will amount to USD 2.318 per share, compared to USD 0.408 per share distributed in total for 2022. ? “We continue to deliver on our strategy focused on excellent customer service and strong operational performance which translate into profitable growth and increased dividend distributions to our shareholders. Our vision of being a leader in sustainable transport solutions to the global auto industry stands firm as we go into 2024 with a near record revenue backlog supporting long-term earnings visibility and attractive quarterly dividends,” said Georg A. Whist, the CEO of GCC. ? With the divestment of the Mid-size vessel Viking Amber (4,200 CEU, built 2010), announced earlier this week, GCC expect to recognise a net book gain of USD 36.6 million in Q2 2024. The sale frees up capital to strengthen our balance sheet and support quarterly dividend distributions. It also means we are effectively sold out on open capacity for the rest 2024 and well into 2025.? Please join today’s earnings presentation at 10:00 CET where our CEO Georg A. Whist and CFO Gunnar S. Kol?en will present our Q4 financial performance, the latest operational developments and discuss outlook for the car shipping market. ? Why ROCE matters beyond the basics: ROCE (Return on Capital Employed) - measures how efficiently a business uses its capital to generate profits, calculated as EBIT divided by shareholder funds plus long-term liabilities. While a 15% ROCE is often seen as desirable, what’s acceptable really depends on the industry—think British Airways with a low ROCE of 6-7% versus large software companies with 20%. Why does ROCE matter? ? First, it’s a strong indicator to compare with interest rates—if investors can earn more by putting their money in a bank, they might exit. ? Second, investors care more about the share price than dividends. ? Lastly, a low ROCE can make the company a takeover target as this can offer shareholders a better rate of return!

The pre-close trading update from DRIVER GROUP PLC delivered encouraging progress overall, with the smaller regions returning to profitability and a positive performance in the UK and Europe. The cost rationalisation was completed during the period following the move to a smaller London office. Cash continues to remain high, representing 32% of the market capitalisation. The strategy put in place in H2 of FY23 is expected to deliver higher revenues and profitability ahead of 2027, not least reflecting the focus on added-value expert services. We see little reason to adjust our 40p fair value/share, with no change to estimates. The share price remains below the NAV currently and is underpinned by cash. Financial Management: Dividend Policy! Dividend: A reward paid to the shareholders for their investment in a company's equity, and it usually originates from the company's net profits. Benefits of Reinvesting dividend in the business: - Funds are internally available - Not to go out in the search of funds to financial Institutions. - Cost of funds are with in control. - Power of compounding - Long term base of share holders - other administrative & transactional cost can be saved Invest large amount of profit back into the business & minimum 10 to 20% dividend can be distributed amongst the share holder. Case Study: Kingfisher Airlines: When the banks lend 9000 Cr money to kingfisher airlines they never look what the company is doing with internal funds. They never signed long term collaterals or physical collateral. Banks gave the loan on brand name as a guarantee. If a company is paying out dividends to share holders and going out to financial institutions to raise the funds for business requirement than something fishy is happening inside the company, the intention of shareholders is to shut the business & declare insolvency ?? As Spirit Airlines contemplates a potential Chapter 11 filing amid $3.3 billion in debt, there are important lessons to draw from the merger that didn’t come to fruition and the broader airline industry. This situation emphasizes the critical need for financial resilience, strategic flexibility, and the ability to pivot when faced with mounting challenges. Chapter 11 offers companies a lifeline to restructure and emerge stronger—something we've witnessed across the airline sector with companies like Delta Airlines and others. Smart financial management, operational realignment, and a keen focus on long-term sustainability have proven crucial in these scenarios. Spirit’s shift toward higher ticket prices is an example of adaptation, but it also underscores the delicate balance between revenue generation and customer retention. Pricing strategies in tough times are complex—how they play out will determine whether Spirit can rebuild trust with its loyal base while reshaping its financial health. Ultimately, Spirit’s journey highlights that even in the face of setbacks, there’s room for recovery. It’s a reminder that with thoughtful restructuring and adaptability, challenges can pave the way for renewed strength. #Finance #Bankruptcy #AirlineIndustry #BusinessStrategy #Resilience
