5 Daily Habits to Supercharge Your Productivity as a Designer ?? Productivity isn’t about working nonstop—it’s about working smart. These habits have helped me stay focused, creative, and consistent in my design journey, allowing me to make the most of each day: 1?? Start Your Day with a Plan ??? Begin your day by setting clear, specific goals and prioritizing tasks. Knowing exactly what needs to be done will give you a strong sense of direction and help you avoid distractions. Having a plan allows you to stay organized, focused, and motivated throughout the day, ensuring you're working efficiently and effectively. 2?? Batch Your Design Tasks ?? Batching similar tasks together helps you stay in the flow and work faster. Whether it’s brainstorming multiple concepts or working on similar design elements, grouping tasks reduces time spent switching between different types of work and keeps your creative energy flowing. 3?? Take Breaks and Recharge ? While it might seem counterintuitive, taking short breaks throughout the day actually helps increase productivity. Step away from your screen, stretch, or grab a coffee. A change of scenery can refresh your mind and bring new ideas, preventing burnout and keeping your creativity sharp. 4?? Seek Feedback Early and Often ?? Getting feedback early in the process can save you time and help you avoid major revisions later on. Don’t wait until the final design is complete—share your progress with colleagues or peers, and make adjustments based on their input. This collaboration will improve your work and speed up the design process. 5?? Reflect and Tweak Your Work ?? At the end of each day, take a moment to review your designs and reflect on your work. Small tweaks can make a huge difference. This step also allows you to identify areas for improvement and continuously elevate your skills. ?? These habits have completely transformed how I approach my work and stay productive. What about you? ??What habits help you stay productive and creative as a designer? The furniture in Microsoft Teams Rooms and hybrid workspaces is critical, impacting user experience - and behaviours. One example is formal meeting spaces, in that they drive more respectful behaviours. They encourage listening. They discourage those whose default setting is 'transmit' rather than 'receive'. There's a balance here. If we think of meetings in terms of outcomes, then there's the quality of the output and the speed/efficiency. Thinking holistically, we accept that no one thing is likely to make a radical difference, but by thinking carefully of the impacts of each element of room design, then cumulatively this can have significant impacts. Although ‘holistic design’ approaches and free mention of UX and user experience are made, when rigour and standards-based methods are used, the results can be transformative. The EASE (Environment, Audio, Screen and Equity) system/heuristic developed at GJC is a principal element we use to work with clients. The furniture part of the room represents threats - and opportunities - to AV professionals committed to creating optimal user experiences. It also points to the strategic importance of addressing the organisation silos that can act as barriers to involvement in critical elements of room design - of which furniture and lighting are two key examples. I’ll be speaking at events at ISE 2025 including the Smart Workplace Summit on 6 February, conducted and curated by Gary Keene, where such topics will be discussed. Please message me if you’d like to meet during show week. See link in Comments section below. #avtweeps #microsoftteamsrooms ? #hybridmeetings #zoom #avusergroup? #ltsmg #schoms? #avixa #avmag

The increasing number of meetings that add to the distractions in the workplace is forcing us to make micro-decisions every day. Should I book a room? What technology do I need? Does my work require focus time? New Steelcase research identifies three factors that influence when people seek out more privacy in the office to better understand the new demands and motivations surrounding #hybridwork. https://zurl.co/C2uX
