Okay, you know I don't like press releases. And this one has a lot of hype. But the point of adding VR simulation to the FAAs approved pilot simulation training is noteworthy. The press release highlights all of the important points (as I expect). Reducing the footprint of the simulators with no large screens is the primary addition of the VR capability, but it also provides a seamless (I hope) view of the world where the old screen style sims would have obvious breaks in the continuity of the scene. Too bad that there is still a need for full motion, a significant cost and footprint issue with simulators. That said, the use of VR adds a new tool that should reduce the cost (again as the press release points out) and that may open the door for more pilots to get their necessary training. Let's hope we can make even more headway with fully immersive training that really reduces the cost and footprint! #aam #loftdynamics #singleseatconsulting

Remote control of a robot through VR glasses A friend from GNeuro sent me a link to an interesting project that democratizes the technologies for remote control of robots and manipulators using virtual reality. I've been interested in this field for many years, and now I understand that we've moved a step closer to the world of the movie "Surrogates" (I recommend watching it if you haven't seen it yet) ?? Seriously though, these technologies open up huge possibilities for the use of remote labor, organizing exhibitions and events from a distance, etc. It's no surprise that the most popular game among the younger generation in our virtual reality clubs is "Job Simulator," where the action takes place in 2050, the world is managed by AI, and children work in virtual reality at a typical 20th-century job. This game is exactly what prepares the next generation for remote work in the new technological order! Look how far progress has come! ??
