The Wait for Quality: A Lesson from SNOW'S BBQ, LLC I found myself waiting in line at Snow’s BBQ in Lexington under the blazing Texas sun. We stood for nearly four hours, all for a taste of their renowned barbecue. That wait taught me two essential values that resonate in life and business alike: quality and community. Thanks to everyone for the continued conversation about the climate in downtown Raleigh and all the great ideas you have brought forth. Let's move into another era of a thriving Downtown. With all this being said I did want to take advantage of this attention for some self-promotion (I mean this is LinkedIn). What have we done to adapt and improve ourselves here at Crank Arm Brewing Company ? We have worked on overall customer experience. Increased training for staff members. Added health benefits for all employees who work over 20 hours per week including vision, dental, short-term disability and life insurance. Upgraded our POS to speed up check out times and to reduce paper waste. Worked closely with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance on the Sip n' Stroll social district and to add a Food Truck zone on Davie St. Added a spirits program that incorporates local beverage producers into our lineup. (We realize that not everyone loves beer) Added more weekly events including Music Bingo on Mondays, Trivia on Thursdays and a faster speed, longer distance ride on Sundays. Having more themed community events more frequently than twice a year or once a quarter. Added a community outreach specialist who's mission is to engage with local business and communities to find way to collaborate and to drive traffic to the tasting room. At Field Food, people often mention ‘new competitors’ doing similar things to us. However, we don’t see competition; we see amazing people creating more opportunities for local produce to reach customers and for communities to connect in meaningful ways. Viewing others as competitors seems so common, yet time again we’ve found it to be counterproductive to true progress. Embracing collaboration, rather than competition, fuels growth and strengthens the impact we can all have together. We’re always open to conversations and partnerships with like-minded businesses, believing that by working together, we can create even greater positive change in our communities.
