Excited to share my project in real estate! Ever wondered if we could take the guesswork out of property values? That's exactly what I set out to do! Using data science, I built a model that can predict house prices with 89% accuracy - pretty cool, right? ?? The best part? By cleaning up the data and fine-tuning the model, I made it work reliably across different types of properties and market conditions and even boosted its performance by 15%! ?? It's amazing to see how combining real estate knowledge with data can help make better investment decisions. Who knew numbers could tell such interesting stories about properties? I really enjoyed a semi-improvised panel at the Data Happy Hour NYC - in an art gallery! I must admit that art and data go well together! Led by Barr Yaron from Amplify Partners, featuring Gabi Steele and Leah Weiss the co-founders of Preql, Jake Heier from Hex, Gleb Mezhanskiy the founder of Datafold, and Ben whose last name I unfortunately didn’t catch (who was utterly entertaining). Among many topics, the conversation covered the surprisingly tough luck we - data folks - have when trying to sell data-driven decision making to (gut-feeling-driven) decision makers. Indeed, ever since I started selling data-driven investment solutions to real estate investors in 2017, it’s always appeared to me as if investors look for data to confirm - not guide - their decisions. Investors are not ignorant though, their decisions are based on extensive market research. So maybe it’s worth pushing research to your customers rather than waiting for them to pull your favorite dashboard??
