I listened to the Daily last week about companies trying to make in-office work "fun." Maybe you heard the episode? Here's the thing: working in an office isn't ever going to be fun. Either we're going in to work or we are staying home to work but we are not going to work to play. Hybrid work is a compromise where all parties lose. You'll never convince me that office games, yoga, happy hour makes it worth the trek. Nope. As a business leader, knowing where you stand on in-office work is an indicator of your brand values. Having a strong POV, and sticking to it, often means alienating people: your customers, your employees, potential employers. But a wishy-washy POV is diminishing for any brand - and ultimately you stand for nothing and subsequently don't stand out. Know who you're for, what you stand for and then act on those values always. That IS your brand. And if you compromise that, it's over.
