There ya have it folks... Bad guys with guns don't like to run into good guys that are armed as well. The phrase "violence begets violence" means that violent behavior can lead to more violent behavior. The idea has been used since the early 19th century and is also described in the Gospel of Matthew, verse 26:52 The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate...Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King Jr. #violence #secondammendment #safety

Tomorrow is Election Day. Many of us are tired, worried, and overwhelmed by the harmful words spread in the news. Regardless of the results, a large segment of our country will feel sad and defeated. It is important to remember that we are still one country - One America. We are neighbors, friends, and relatives. Continuing the cycle of divisiveness is ultimately unproductive and destructive not only in our personal lives but as a community and country. We urge you to take a stance of love, unity, and respect. Hoping for a better world where everyone can belong and thrive, starts with the individual. We encourage you to engage with the The Dignity Index to learn how to treat others with dignity. Take a course with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) to learn about nonviolence. Attend a Braver Angels workshop to learn skills on how to have respectful conversations with those you disagree with. ?? Reflecting on the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence ?? As I reflect on this campaign, one truth stands out: the end of gender-based violence begins with individual resolve. It’s about each of us deciding not to contribute to, tolerate, or ignore violence. Real change starts with personal accountability. We are stronger and more whole when we choose love over harm. As Dr Martin Luther King Jr. once said: “Nonviolence is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism. It is the active outpouring of one’s whole being into the being of another.” Let's not add violence to the equation in a world already weighed down by many challenges. This new month is an opportunity for a new resolve: to do better for ourselves, others, and our communities. By advocating for transparency and accountability, we are taking essential steps toward creating a society where justice and fairness are upheld for everyone. It is crucial to maintain the principle that ‘Justice for one is justice for all.’ Therefore, in every circumstance, when confronted with injustice, do not remain a bystander.
