Leading Passage of the Voters Voice Amendment (VVA) VVA.US. The VVA is a proposed U.S. Constitutional amendment for voter initiatives to create and pass federal laws. [email protected]
A Party on the Mall for President Joe Biden’s 50 years of government service. ? We need to celebrate what has been accomplished with President Biden, V.P. Harris, and his entire team.?Plus, include his other 46+ years of service. We need to do this before Election Day, say late September or early October.?Of course, on the D.C. Mall and have many short speeches by many speakers. ? I checked into sponsoring such an event with the U.S. Park Service website.??Needless to say, the scope is beyond the Power to the People Voter’s Voice Amendment (PttP.US) nonprofit funding and staffing.?However, we would love to partner with some of the other well-intentioned nonprofits to make it happen. ? What do you think? ? Purpose above Politics & Power Voters create and pass laws -- ourselves Democracy is NOT winner take all. In a democracy you get what you vote for. Sample initiatives on webapp https://VVA.US With the Voters Voice Amendment (VVA) at VVA.US and PttP.US ?we can make these decisions ourselves for OUR future and OUR children’s future. We do NOT need only representatives to decide what and what we cannot have, or do.

Happy #NationalVoterRegistrationDay! Being an active, informed voter is one more way to demonstrate your care for community at the *individual* level. Today is a great day to review your eligibility, update your prior registration with any new information, and/or register for the first time. In MO, we have until 10/9 to be registered to vote in November; use the QR codes or visit https://lnkd.in/grz6ySk. A reminder to our Member organizations: while you should refrain from advising your employees, Boards, and funded partners *how* to vote, you *can* share nonpartisan information -- like reminding them of the deadline to register to vote and providing information about how to do so!

It is interesting that everything circles back to government transparency and government accountability. The lack of both of these is preventing all Australians from being able to see exactly what is happening and to challenge the government. The name calling, bullying, and gaslighting have been and are occurring at federal and state level. As well as fighting for disability rights, a fair NDIS built on true codesign, and aged rights, we’re having to fight the Mis/disinformation Bill as well, because if this passes then the government can become a dictatorship and tyranny using legislation against us to hide the truth. #TimeForChange #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #NDIA #NDIS #RoboNDIS #BillShorten #BillShit #GovernmentTransparency #GovernmentAccountability #RepealTheBill #TheBillWillKill https://lnkd.in/gbnyntyP DEMOCRACY FIRST Vern Hughes Renee F. NDIS Block Funding: Ensuring "High-Quality" Support... or Just Paying Off Favors? Ah, the NDIA’s latest pilot initiatives: block funding for "high-quality" providers. Sounds impressive, right? Selecting a few established providers to deliver support for those with complex needs. But let's not kid ourselves—this isn’t about ensuring quality. This is about taking participant choice and control and tossing it out the window. Convenient Timing, Don’t You Think? With elections around the corner, it’s fascinating how these pilots seem to create an exclusive club of providers. Could it be a mere coincidence that some of these “high-quality” organizations also happen to be significant donors to major political parties? Makes you wonder if this is just another way to return the favors, doesn’t it? A Step Backward We've fought hard to move away from the block-funded models that stripped participants of their freedom to choose the supports that truly meet their needs. Yet here we are, watching the NDIA handpick select providers, leaving smaller, flexible providers struggling to stay afloat. I thought the NDIS was about participant-centered care, not provider-centered politics. What Does This Mean for Participants? If you’re a participant, take note. These block funding pilots could mean fewer choices and more limitations. Is this really "quality support"? Or just a move to box participants into services decided by those with the loudest wallets? A Call for Transparency and Accountability So, what does the NDIS community think? Should we just accept that political donations can now dictate which providers stay in business? Are we willing to let participant choice be traded for political favors? Let’s Talk ?? Is this really about quality, or is it about political convenience? ?? How can we protect the NDIS from becoming a tool for political back-scratching? ?? What can we do to ensure participant choice remains at the heart of the NDIS? Let’s make some noise. Share your thoughts and let’s challenge this narrative together. The NDIS is meant to serve participants, not political agendas. #NDIS #NDISFunding #VoiceForSmallProviders #ElectionSeasonMoves #ChoiceOverPolitics #AdvocacyForProviders #SMEs #Bullyingcontinues Vern Hughes Veronica Stephan-Miller Mark Howells Mark Sweeney Renee F. Evidence shows that individuals—particularly those with multiple barriers to employment—need support services, such as child care and transportation, to participate in work, education, and training opportunities to secure a pathway to a good job.?Federal agencies have many levers to integrate support services into?the business of government; however, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to facilitating equitable access to good jobs. Ensuring a comprehensive suite of support services will require action by federal, state, and local governments,?as well as?service providers, philanthropic organizations, and the private sector. Additionally, more evidence is needed to better inform decision-makers, including the types of support services and how to provide these services. ??: https://lnkd.in/dz8Sb-Hr

Anxiety? Maybe even depression over the politics in our country? I hear you. Me too. It's awful that a fascist dictatorship is even possible much less likely according to the polls. And research shows that most Americans don't care. Most likely somewhere near half of eligible people won't bother to vote. So what about us progressive, pro-democracy, old-fashioned citizens? We're going to vote no matter what, and we'll support candidates who believe that climate change is real, that women must have the right to control their own bodies, that raising the minimum wage will not destroy the economy, that guns that kill school children must be banned, and we care about other important issues like access to health care and public education. But whom should we vote for, and who should get our $25 or $50? Guess what? There's a website that will give you answers: Flipthestates.com The site gives number ratings to where your dollars will have the most impact. The race in California district 13, for example, gets a a 95 since the seat went Republican by only .42% after being Democratic for 5 elections. It's ripe for flipping. Our money there makes a big difference. This is one example of how the website guides your giving. It covers the House, the Senate, abortion ballot measures, and state offices in presidential swing states. It is very valuable data. Check it out and tell your family and friends.

Join Outdoors On Purpose on Friday, September 20th, 8:30AM for "Hike Out the Vote" #NationalVoterRegistration on 9/20 to help celebrate democracy by getting every eligible American registered & #VoteReady for 2024! Register here: https://qr.link/4eJAyk It is our belief that nonprofits should support voter registration efforts because civic engagement directly impacts the communities we serve. By encouraging voter registration, nonprofits empower individuals to advocate for policies and leaders that align with their interests and address critical issues like healthcare, education, housing, and environmental justice. Furthermore, fostering active participation in the democratic process strengthens community voice and influence in shaping policies that affect nonprofit missions, ensuring a more inclusive and representative society. Lastly, voter registration efforts align with the broader goal of promoting equity and access to resources, as marginalized communities are often underrepresented at the polls.

It's time to move our material resources to the 2024 election if we want to prevent another unfortunate result. I posted two years ago about why I am choosing to give money to organizations led by progressive folks rather than individual candidates (basically, so that candidates remain connected to these groups who can continue to push for progressive agendas and who have more electoral wisdom than I do as an individual). These are the 10 groups we are giving to this year, chosen with help from a consultant we highly trust. Please check out these organizations and consider giving whatever you can or volunteering: 1 @Care in Action careinaction.us 2 Groundswell Action Fund groundswellactionfund.org Groundswell Fund 3 Mijente mijente.net Mijente 4 The Movement for Black Lives m4bl.org The Movement for Black Lives 5 Movement Voter Project movement.vote Movement Voter Project 6 People's Action peoplesaction.org People's Action 7 Seed The Vote seedthevote.org Seed the Vote 8 United We Dream unitedwedream.org United We Dream 9 Way To Win waytowin.us Way to Win 10 Working Families Party workingfamilies.org Working Families Party #movemoney #movemoneytransferpower #mindfulnesscoach
