Distal Femur EZIO. Did you know the age range and landmarking for the distal femur site has now been changed? Distal Femur is now a viable site for all paediatric patients under the age of 18. It is now recommended that the top of Patella (or Patella space) is palpated initially, with the correct insertion point being 1 - 2 cm above (for Young Children) and 5 cm above for older children. It is also recommended that the insertion point should be in the midline of the bone and not, as previously referred to, on the medial aspect.
