Can robots earn your trust? Apparently, they can! Researchers have discovered that synchronising movement between humans and robots, called "co-movement", can actually build trust. In a recent experiment, participants worked with robots during a firefighting mission simulation. When humans and robots moved in sync, trust was higher but when trust dropped their movements became out of sync. This study showed that if robots can sense low trust through disrupted co-movement, they could adjust their behaviour to improve the relationship and teamwork.
