Although he's a good friend, Michael de Geus is also one of the foremost security experts in the world. With 12 years of service in the United States Secret Service, including protecting President Trump, Mike has unparalleled insights into security and protection. Mike left the Secret Service to start Leatherback, a company dedicated to protecting kids from mass shootings. In this episode, he gives an exclusive analysis of an assassination attempt on President Trump that you likely haven't heard before. What made this situation unique? Pennsylvania's open carry law and the fact that the shooter’s "rooftop" was on private property, outside Secret Service jurisdiction. While adjacent to Trump's rally, this area posed significant challenges. The Secret Service's ability to prevent the shooter from having a rifle and climbing that roof was limited. Mike also highlights a major oversight: the orientation of the stage and the lack of visual barriers that left the former President exposed to an unmanned elevated position. In response to the exponential increase in a polarized populace, Mike has been pursuing another groundbreaking idea. We are excited to be the very first to break this news with our interview that took place on Monday night. Mike and his team have been in advanced engineering beta for months now creating what Mike calls the “uberization” of security. He’s creating a platform called Shadow that will invite highly qualified security professionals onto his application.
