It's that time of year again - applications are open for the Tory Burch Foundation Fellows program. I've kept supporting this program in different ways since my days working for Tory and can testify that every year it just keeps blowing everyone's socks off. The years worth of business education is phenomenal, the community is unparalleled, and the whole of the TB business is rooting for every single fellow and wants to help however they can which is truly priceless. My favorite thing about this program is that it's designed for "normal" businesses. Most accelerators and incubators are focused on VC-backable companies with a shot at hockey stick growth, but the TBF supports every kind of company - the extraordinary and "normal" companies that actually make up the backbone of our economy and our societies. #education #entrepreneurship #femalefounders

HBCUs represent only 3% of the nation’s colleges and universities but collectively generate?$16.5 billion in economic impact annually. At the recent Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) Conference, Kresge held two sessions highlighting HBCUs' aspirations to be community development anchors, which present emerging partnership opportunities for mission-minded financial institutions. The Brookings Institution scholar Andre M. Perry said, "I always remind people that HBCUs are treated like black people, that the lack of wealth is reflected in a lack of endowments. While our commitment to underserved communities of color remains unwavering, we're shifting gears to prioritize economic sustainability as a cornerstone of our mission. ??
