Malta had the honor of hosting a VIP delegation/trade mission from the Netherlands earlier this week. It was a pleasure spending time learning about the intricacies of their grid, while hypothesizing innovative solutions with Malta Inc’s advanced energy storage technology. We look forward to building on these conversations and working together on impactful solutions.
? Together with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, we were thrilled to host a delegation of innovators in batteries, hydrogen and more for the first leg of the US trip to connect with innovators in the US to explore how to future-proof our energy networks amidst rising challenges: the need for speed, the need for increased energy and the need to keep our systems affordable. ?? The delegation kicked off their time in Boston on Monday at National Grid, where they also got to hear from Eversource Energy and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center on the energy landscape in the Northeast USA and various initiatives to support innovators operating in the clean energy sector, before concluding with a panel discussion on smart grid solutions. Thank you Nicola, Roger and Sarah for your key insights! ?? We then ventured across the Charles River to Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a quick tour of the campus, led by Mart of VEIR - a recent MIT alumnus and our former Innovation Attache! The afternoon at MIT concluded with an overview of MIT Energy Initiative by Morgan and a discussion on electrification, transmission, grid technology & policy research before visiting GE Vernova to continue the conversation on grid infrastructure innovation with VEIR, LineVision and TS Conductor . ?? On Tuesday, we turned our attention to batteries. Starting with a visit to Form Energy and then The Engine Accelerator, where we were then joined by AM Batteries for a discussion on battery innovation. ?? After lunch, the delegation ventured on to Malta Inc, where we were joined by ISO New England Inc., for presentations on thermal energy storage and how they approach innovation. Tuesday concluded with a joint networking dinner with the offshore wind innovation mission at Shell TechWorks. ?? Today the delegation travels on to Houston - but not before connecting with the offshore wind innovation mission once again - this time for a panel on where offshore meets the grid. Thanks to panelists and speakers: Rutger (Enexis), Caroline (Ministry of Economic Affairs), Maarten (TenneT), Laura (U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)), Maarten (Reynard High Voltage Solutions), Jan (The Carbon Trust), Sebastian (GE Vernova) and Carrie (Vineyard Offshore)!
