It is frequently stated that it takes an average of 17 years for research evidence to reach clinical practice. Balas and Bohen, Grant and Wratschko all estimated a time lag of 17 years measuring different points of the process. Such convergence around an ‘average’ time lag of 17 years hides complexities that are relevant to policy and practice which would benefit from greater understanding. Despite longstanding concerns about delays in getting research into practice, the literature on time lags seems surprisingly under-developed. To help address this gap, this paper aims to synthesize existing knowledge and to offer a conceptual model that can be used to standardize measurement and thus help to quantify lags in future.

Imagine a world where medical research doesn’t have to start from scratch. Imagine a treasure trove of valuable data readily available to answer new questions. This is the reality HeSANDA, the Health Studies Australian National Data Asset, is creating for Australian researchers. HeSANDA is not your typical research database. It’s a national program that goes beyond simply storing data. It facilitates the discovery, access, and sharing of health and medical research data from clinical trials cohort studies and other valuable sources. It aims to support more efficient and effective research to help improve health outcomes. Learn more about HeSANDA > https://buff.ly/4cfWdrA

New impact metrics for the Journal, Critical Public Health. The 2023 Journal Impact Factor is?3.1 Clarivate provides a single, unified category ranking in a subject regardless of which edition the journal is in (e.g., SCIE, SSCI, ESCI). This combined category ranking provides a simpler and more complete category view for evaluating journal performance. As of 2023, Clarivate displays Impact Factors to 1 decimal place rather than 3. This means more than one journal can be listed in the same position in citation category rankings. The 2023 CiteScore (Scopus) data are as follows: 5.9?(2023) CiteScore (Scopus) Q1?(2023) CiteScore Best Quartile 1.224?(2023) SNIP 0.942?(2023) SJR The 2023 Journal Impact Factor is?3.1 (Journal Citation Reports??Clarivate Analytics, 2024).??Critical Public Health?Comparative Rankings: 9/46 SOCIAL SCIENCES, BIOMEDICAL, 111/403 PUBLIC, ENVIRONMENTAL& OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH???? ?? Just published! A Literature Review of Covid-19 Research: Taking Stock and Moving Forward by Ali A. Guenduez & Nora Walker (Published online: April 4, 2024) The massive research effort on COVID-19 has shed light on many aspects of the pandemic. But where do we go from here? Our new study provides a roadmap for future research by analyzing over 700 articles published in various public administration journals. ?? Here's what we found: ?????A wide range of research topics (27 in total) that can be clustered into four major clusters (i.e., governance and responses, social and societal consequences, economic factors and implications, and medical aspects of the coronavirus) highlighting major interrelated areas of research ?????Research topics remain relevant throughout the pandemic. ?????The focus of research varies depending on the publication and author's background, rather than whether the team conducting the research is international or not. ? Last night, I had the opportunity to discuss about ?????????????????? ???????????????????? with a group of young scientists. It's astonishing how many people are still unaware of what these guidelines are and their purpose. Reporting guidelines are standardized frameworks designed to ensure clear, accurate, and transparent reporting of #research. They outline the essential information that should be included in scientific #publications to enhance #reproducibility, improve study quality, and facilitate critical appraisal by readers and reviewers. These #guidelines help prevent selective reporting and ensure consistency across studies, making it easier to interpret and compare research findings. At the Equator Network website (https://lnkd.in/d_j_iTNr) you may find an up-to-date collection of guidelines and policy documents related to health research reporting. How can readers fully grasp the value of your research if your study lacks clear, detailed reporting on what was actually done?
