Site Acquired Feb 2022 (with planning for 3 units) approved by delegated Additional land acquired adjoining the site (20% more land area) Planning submitted for 4 houses June 2022 - Decision due Oct 2022 Application withdrawn Sept 2022 on suggestion of planner and alternative schemes put forward and agreed on one they could support New Application submitted Dec 2022 - Not Validated until Jan 2023 Written Up with Recommendation for APPROVAL June 2023 Were told we had to go to committee (despite previous delegated approval) We had 2 minutes to speak, the one committee member grandstanded for 20 minutes on a 4 unit site! Planning REFUSED at committee by 7 votes to 6 (1 abstention) July 2023 Appeal Lodged Aug 2023 PLANNING WON AT APPEAL JUNE 2024 - all counts TWO YEARS WASTED OVER 50 DOCUMENTS & REPORTS PRODUCED ￡10,000s SPENT UNNECESSARILY COUNCIL WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY COSTS THESE HOUSES COULD HAVE BEEN BUILT AND OCCUPIED BY NOW Example of broken system which is also wrongly penalising SME House Builders more than anyone else.
