For over two decades, Commonwealth Financial Network has supported our mission and granted more than 25 wishes for local children with critical illnesses through the Commonwealth Cares Fund. This summer, the organization hosted 15-year-old Maddy for a party at the offices of Commonwealth Financial in Waltham to honor Maddy and her wish to visit Los Angeles, which they are proudly sponsoring. The teen is a fan of space, astronomy, and planes and hopes to study engineering or medicine in college. Commonwealth employees split into teams to incorporate Maddy’s favorite things into the party by creating themed areas and activities for her, her family, and her friends to enjoy. The teams put together a life-size board game, a TV trivia challenge, pampering sessions with a manicurist, and a dedicated photographer for Maddy's personal photo shoot. Maddy was welcomed into a space-themed atrium anchored by a space craft built by one of the employees, and greeted by cheering from hundreds of employees gathered around and visible on many floor levels. Thank you, Commonwealth Financial Network and Commonwealth Cares, for giving Maddy an unforgettable celebration as she looks forward to her wish coming true!

SE Michigan will be a better place to live when nonprofits meet their missions. When all people have housing, when cancers are cured, when people stop contributing to climate change etc. Yet, despite decades of incremental progress, the issues nonprofits exist to buffer or erase persist. This is partially due to isolation and segregation. Even when there's overlap in our missions and visions, nonprofits often tackle their work alone. To transform our future, we need to work together across organizations, sectors, communities, and identities. And to collaborate across difference, we need to build relationships based on trust and accountability. The renovated NEW Center will create space for authentic, organic connection and collaboration between mission-driven people across our ecosystem. It will become a place where changemakers come together and no one is pushed to the margins. With space to bring everyone impacted to the table, we'll finally be able to make real progress towards a just and thriving society. We all believe that SE Michigan will be a better place to live when nonprofits meet their missions. On this historic election day, we stand united as leaders of California’s leading philanthropic organizations—unwavering in our commitment to our communities, no matter the outcome. ? Freedom. Hope. Equity. Opportunity. These are California’s values – these are America’s values. They course through our bustling city streets, echo across our abundant fields, rise with our ocean waves, and pulse within our people. ? We stand in solidarity with our frontline partners and pledge to invest boldly to drive racial justice, advance prosperity, and sustain California as a global force - not despite our diversity but because of it. We renew our promise to protect and defend our people, our rights, our environment, and our progress. We commit to deploy our resources, speaking up for what is right and speaking out against injustice. ? The Golden State has weathered dark storms of division before, as has our nation, but we have always come back stronger, persistent in our pursuit of progress. Together we will not only safeguard the California Dream, the American Dream - we will redefine it so that it lives up to its promise and potential, for all of us. ? We make this shared commitment to progress with California Black Freedom Fund, California Community Foundation, The California Endowment, College Futures Foundation, East Bay Community Foundation, Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, The James Irvine Foundation, Latino Community Foundation, Liberty Hill Foundation, San Francisco Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Tipping Point Community and Weingart Foundation. ? #UnitedforCalifornia #CAValues #HealthJustice #RacialEquity #PhilanthropyForChange

Pennsylvania will Press Forward with 3 Local Chapters: Hopefully good news for local news policy and practice. Will our Commonwealth and stakeholders in critical civic information finally own up to the fact that we no longer have the requisite supply of ‘legal instruments’ to legally advertise proposed constitutional amendments? Jim Friedlich, Sam Kille, Richard Tofel, Steven Waldman, Chris Krewson, Jeff Jarvis, Mike Blinder, Sara Fischer, Teresa Gorman, Melanie Sill, Victor Pickard, Sarah Stonbely, PhD, Joshua Benton, Kristen Hare, Press Forward

To accelerate their growth, Press Forward is offering these chapters access to up to $250,000 in Catalyst Funds. Congrats to the newest chapters and their lead funders: Colorado (Gates Family Foundation and The Colorado Health Foundation), Lancaster, Pa. (The Steinman Foundation) Lexington, Ky.
