Full disclosure. When the creative brief first landed on my desk to mark a milestone story for a legal brand I inwardly groaned. Twice.??? Who actually cares about brand heritage? Isn’t it just self-indulgent navel gazing? A vainglorious biopic of what makes us so great? ?? And since when did any law firm have an appetite for edgy brand storytelling? We’ve all been bored into a catatonic state by talking head videos about impenetrably dry subject matter. A great cure for insomnia, but to say law is a vibrant and disruptive category, would be like saying the last slice of forgotten Hovis at the bottom of the bread bin is actually quite tasty when you get your teeth into it.??? Then we cracked the brief wide open. Who cares about brand heritage? Your customers do. It proves that you’re trusted, dedicated, credible, established in your field. How do we avoid hubris? We humbly acknowledge that there’s no shortcut to excellence. It takes years to flourish. We have put in tens of thousands of hours of legal practice for our clients. So we understand what it takes to be devoted to your craft. That’s why we celebrated these exceptional people who have perfected theirs.??? We never rest on our laurels. Mastery has to be earned. How are my dreams of a dance career tied to sponsorship? Back in the day, the only thing I talked about, dreamed about and did on a daily basis was dance. I thought for sure I would be a big star one day. So when I was asked to represent my high school in a ballet trio, I was beyond excited. Cut to the realization that flying to Japan is EXPENSIVE! Community: We need some help, putting this out to the universe: As some of you know, our 15-year-old son Cole won this rare scholarship to a career-making 5-week Summer Intensive training at the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA), one of the top circus schools in the country. It’s the training ground for many elite performers who’ve gone on to Cirque du Soleil and The 7 Fingers (stars of Water for Elephants now on Broadway). The intensive NECCA program is normally just for adults 18+ yet they're making an exception for Cole. We need to arrange lodging in or near Brattleboro VT for 5 weeks, July 14-Aug 18. Lodging has to be within daily driving distance (less than 30 mins each way) as he’ll be training 6 days/week. Even with the scholarship (value $3K), the cost of 5 weeks of lodging and travel poses a challenge (est $4K-$6K). But we’re determined to make this happen. Please message me if you: A) Know anyone in/near Brattleboro VT who has a spare room to rent cheap, or is going on vacation and needs a house-sitter. B) Have hotel points to donate/gift. The Ballet industry is evolving, with management and agents becoming increasingly prominent. This shift brings both exciting opportunities and new challenges. On the one hand, we see dancer visibility expanding into mainstream channels, leading to increased awareness and wider appeal. Dancers are commanding higher fees, which is long overdue recognition for their artistry. However, this growth in costs presents a challenge, especially within the traditional theatre setting. If ticket prices and funding from donations or sponsorships don't increase proportionally, a gap is created that threatens the sustainability of the current model. So, how do we bridge that gap? It's a question the Ballet community must address collectively. Should theatres innovate to draw more audiences? Can new revenue streams such as brand partnerships, collaborations, or even digital performances help alleviate the financial strain? As management continues to advocate for fair pay and more opportunities, we must also ensure that the infrastructure supports this new landscape to keep ballet thriving. #ballet #dance #balletmanagement #balletagent
