This weekend I had the amazing experience to travel to Fenway Park through my Fan Services internship with The Savannah Bananas. Years of work led up to this game, and we (pardon my French) fricking sold it out. I made a blog post about a few Fans First Moments I had, I'd love for you to check it out! ___________________________ “How are you enjoying the game?” I asked a security guard, John, who was positioned at a staircase on the backside of the stadium. And he thanked us. He thanked us for bringing fun baseball back to Fenway. He told me about his journey of working at the stadium since the 80s, where he started by selling beer in the stands. He told me how great it was to see kids running around and chasing down autographs. He told me that although he couldn’t see the game, he watched as fans gave their undivided attention to Matt Graifer and the player's pre-game show before gates opened. He told me his Grandpa came to Fenway to watch Babe Ruth pitch. He told me that his grandkids were there tonight. I didn’t say much, I let him tell me. He told me how much fun he was having. He told me that the stadium had more life in it than it did during the World Series. He told me that we brought the baseball community back to Fenway in a way he has never seen. He reminded me through his words why we do it. I don’t know who got more out of that conversation, him or I. Opportunity to learn from the best

It’s almost like it’s not official till it’s a social media graphic ?? PJ Bellantoni and I have been working on the foundation and visibility of Bold City Sports for Change for the past year. We’ve been intentionally creating something solid so we can move with maximum impact. And even before that, Bold City Sports for Change was AP’s 3 KEYS, where the vision and all the ideas started. We’ll take the acknowledgment and support however and whenever it comes. This spring and summer are looking like opportunities for amazing impact, starting with the hiring of a few incredible interns. I never realized how much people believe in our mission to create and enhance cultures in athletics that make athletes feel more HUMAN till we started interviewing intern candidates. We’ve seen the best and the worst of athletics…and we strongly believe that mental development, intangible skills, and positive cultures that encourage true growth allow athletes to excel in and out of their sports. We believe it enough to create an entire business model around it. This may be the first time some people are noticing what we’re actually doing…but it’s not the beginning and we’ve got many, many more years of impact ahead of us! Alright 2024 grads, this one's for you! (or anyone else trying to break into sports) Here's some of the most common questions I receive + my answers/insights: 1) Who should I reach out to within the organization? - Pro Sports: Inside Sales Manager - College Athletics: Director of Ticket Sales 2) How can I set myself apart from other candidates? - Complete an internship with a sports organization - Express a passion for sales/business development (This is different than being a big sports fan) - Do research on the organization and ask meaningful questions during the interview (Having zero questions prepared is a missed opportunity) 3) What the best advice I've ever received? - The best advice I've received is to take your first job based on who is going to be your first manager since that person is going to help the lay foundation for your career.
