Yesterday #elonmusk posted a tweet asking people to use Signal, the messaging app. This caused a frenzy of people going to Google Signal to buy its stocks. Consequence: People went to Google Search Or Finance Stock sites, looked up Signal stock, clicked and bought. No one bothered to check if this was the right stock. Advance #Signal, a different company had its stocks increase by 1100 percent due to mass buying. It is unbelievable how we take everything online to be holding a position of always telling us the truth. What shows up on Google must be true. Not really, we just need to raise awareness on how #google Search works. Maybe awareness on how Search in all apps works. Yes we talk a lot about customer intent, but apps and websites do not still understand our intent. The proof was today.
If elon says today buy iPhone... trust me I'll buy it no matter how much i hate it... this is how much this guy is loved, respected and trusted...
So I am not a stock market expert, but based on my personal experience with stocks (almost a year now), inexperienced investors experience what's called the 'Fear Of Missing Out'. When something is hyped, they start panic buying, hoping or thinking that it is the next Tesla or Amazon. People need to research the companies they want to invest in, it's finances, growth, and competitors. Another thing I learned from my early losses, is that if you are new to investing, you are better off investing in an industry you know and understand very well, and you can diversify later in the future.
Sometimes humans seek truth from humans and leave empty handed. Although humans understand intent better than Google, they are not better at giving the truth.

4 年I do not believe that it is fair to solely blame the platform for this occurrence, keeping in mind that lack of research from the human side, prior to investment, could also be the case. At the end of the day, these platforms are tools, as their output depends on our input.
