“Our lives will never be the same without Paul.” The owner of Ginsters has been fined over £1 million after an employee was killed by a lorry at its bakery in Cornwall. Paul Clarke was fatally crushed by the vehicle as it reversed into a loading bay at The Cornwall Bakery, where Ginsters pasties are made. The 40-year-old, as captured in the CCTV footage here, had been moving strip curtains before being struck. Our investigation found Samworth Brothers had not implemented a safe system of work to ensure the strip curtains were moved out of the way when lorries reversed into the loading bay. Paul’s family now no longer celebrate Christmas as “it is just not the same” without him, his mother revealed in a statement.
