?? Road Safety Week 2024: #BuckleUp and Drive Safely ?? Lytx is proud to support Brake, the road safety charity's #RoadSafetyWeek, highlighting the critical importance of seat belts. A seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself on the road—yet many still skip wearing them. Here’s why we need to buckle up, on every single journey: ??? Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury to front seat passengers by 45% and serious injury by 50%. ?? Studies show that unbelted drivers and passengers are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a vehicle during a crash. Tragically, 3 out of 4 people ejected in crashes don’t survive. ?? Research highlights that 50% of accidents occur within a few miles of home. Even short trips require the same commitment to safety. At Lytx, our mission is to make roads safer, starting with every driver and passenger choosing to #BuckleUp. Let’s work together to reduce road risks, stay safe, and remember—seat belts save lives. #Lytx #DriverWellbeing #SeatBeltsSaveLives

???? Road Safety Week: Cell Phone Use While Driving, It Can Wait ???? For Brake, the road safety charity's #RoadSafetyWeek, let’s talk about one of the most common – and most dangerous – distractions on the road: mobile phone use while driving. ?? 1 in 5 road crashes in the UK involve cell phone use. ?? Drivers who text are 23 times more likely to be involved in a crash than non-distracted drivers. ?? In fact, sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds—at 55 mph, that's like driving the length of a football field blindfolded. At Lytx, we’re committed to raising awareness about the serious risks of distracted driving. Every time you pick up your phone behind the wheel, you’re putting yourself and others at risk. Here’s how you can make a difference: ?? Put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" mode ?? Pull over if you need to make a call or send a message ?? Stay focused on the road at all times Let’s make this Road Safety Week a reminder to stay focused and prevent the deadly consequences of distracted driving. #NoTextingAndDriving #DistractedDriving #FocusOnTheRoad #Lytx #itcanwait

August is National Road Victim Month, organised by RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims. This month serves as a reminder of the lives tragically lost on our roads and the importance of road safety. Since its founding in 1998, this campaign has aimed to highlight the staggering number of casualties and raise awareness about preventing road collisions. The Department for Transport reports that for the year ending June 2023, there were an estimated 1,633 fatalities in road collisions in Great Britain. This is a 9% decline compared to the previous year, but it still shows the ongoing danger on our roads. In addition to the fatalities, 29,429 people were seriously injured, bringing the total number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) to that figure. Of the fatalities, 45% were car occupants, 24% were pedestrians, 20% were motorcyclists, and 5% were pedal cyclists. Other road users accounted for the remaining fatalities. These statistics remind us of the human cost behind the numbers – each figure represents a life lost or changed forever. Since records began in 1926, more than 500,000 people have died on UK roads. National Road Victim Month honours the memory of these individuals and calls for a collective effort to prevent further tragedies. If you or a loved one has been affected by a road collision that wasn’t your fault, our Solicitors are here to help and support you. We provide expert legal advice and support to ensure you get the compensation and assistance you need to rebuild your life. We understand the impact of road collisions and can assist with claims for car accidents, pedestrian injuries, cycling incidents, and more. ?? It's Brake, the road safety charity Road Safety Week. This year the focus is on road victims, raising awareness of the devastating impact of road collisions on families, friends and across communities. Road Safety Week is a great opportunity to focus everyone’s attention on making roads safer so that everyone can travel in a safe and healthy way. CLOCS is the national Standard for ensuring the safest construction vehicle journeys, reducing risk to vulnerable road users, improving air quality and congestion, and driving operational efficiencies. More than a third of UK road deaths involve someone who was driving for work. If you employ people who drive for work, you can play a vital role in preventing road collisions and reducing the risk of road death and harm, while improving your reputation and reducing costs. Over 5,500 vulnerable road users are killed or injured every year on UK roads in collisions with vehicles commonplace in construction – that’s 20 people every working day. HGVs only represent around 4% of all traffic on our roads but are involved in around 20% of pedestrian fatalities and a staggering 78% of cyclist fatalities. Every number is a real person with real injuries – traumatising the casualty, their family, the driver, and witnesses. It will cost time, effort and no doubt some financial investment to reduce work related road risks – but how much could it cost if you don’t? During Brake’s #RoadSafetyWeek, we’ll be sharing resources so that we can work together to manage work-related road risk.

From European hospitals to the Ukrainian frontline: how ambulance vehicles continue their vital service in a new chapter—a story created in partnership with SoftServe. Nazar Shafirovych, a software engineer at SoftServe is known for his knack for fixing cars and coming up with quirky nicknames for both vehicles and his kids. In over a year, Nazar personally transported more than 50 vehicles to Ukraine. His nine-year-old son, Marko, aka “Navigator,” often joins him in the passenger seat. Together, they embark on trips to the Ukrainian-Polish border to retrieve ambulances and transport them to Lviv. Nazar’s other son, 15-year-old Ihor, is known as “Mr. Proper.” He vacuums floor mats, throws away chewing gum or candy wrappers left behind by previous drivers from Poland or France, and washes the windows. “In the past, we shared a love for fishing. Together we’d spend a few days each month by a tranquil lake with the fishing rods. But in the past year, we went fishing only once” I told my boys: “Sorry, but we’ll go fishing after our victory,” shares Nazar. “You know, the thoughts about doing something good, about these vehicles saving lives, they’re always positive. It would be truly great if it weren’t for the reasons we have to do it.” Open Eyes, a corporate charity fund established in 2014 by software company SoftServe, supports defenders by providing all sorts of necessities, from protective gear to vehicles. However, its primary focus is the delivery of ambulances to military units. What initially began as a single request has grown into robust, competent assistance. Today, the fund’s volunteers have unparalleled expertise in vehicle types, technical inspections, and medical equipment. Open Eyes collaborates with around 10 primary suppliers abroad who sell vehicles in batches. These are mostly ambulances whose operational lifespan has expired in accordance with the laws of their respective countries. What is the path of medical evacuation vehicles from processing a request in the Lviv office to the broken roads of the combat zone? Read the full story following the link: https://lnkd.in/d26khFCw?
