Neglecting the maintenance of buildings and facilities at a higher learning institution can reflect deeper philosophical issues. It may signal a disregard for human well-being, a devaluation of education, and a focus on short-term gains over long-term sustainability. Such neglect can also symbolize alienation within the institution and a failure of stewardship, suggesting a disconnect between ideals and reality. Ultimately, it may reflect intellectual stagnation and a resistance to progress, questioning the institution’s true commitment to its mission and community. #Education #Plumbing https://lnkd.in/dcEghWtm

The Danger of the Illiteracy of Modern Education ? The great benefits of the technological developments in digital communication and availability of information have had a destructive side-effect on the quality of education. ?It has fostered a form of illiteracy—not just the inability to read and write, but a deeper intellectual and moral deficit. ? The focusing solely on technical training at the expense of a classical education, which includes literature, philosophy, history, and the humanities, leads to the decline of civilization. ? Education should cultivate the imagination and intellectual curiosity rather than merely transmitting information and processing, developing algorithms that conforming to utilitarian ends. ? In reading great literature, one becomes a thousand persons and yet remain him-herself. “Like the night sky in the Greek poem, I see with a myriad eyes, but it is still I who see.” ? Engaging deeply with literature allows individuals to expand their perspectives and empathize with others - a process that has been neglected in modern education. ? Education should not only impart knowledge but also instill values and wisdom, warning that knowledge alone can lead to ethical and moral shortcomings. ? Modern education often lacks depth, failing to nurture the intellectual, moral, and imaginative capacities that are essential for a truly educated person. ? ?Great literature adds to reality; enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become. ? Those of us who love literature seldom fully realize the immense extension of our being which we owe to authors. A lack of reading leads to a diminished capacity for empathy, understanding, and intellectual growth. ? This can be extended to the idea that relying solely on algorithm-driven content designed to reinforce existing preferences many times based on fake news. ? The inconsistency of it all can be expressed by a phrase of Prof. Lewis: “We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.” Rephrasing it to the new context one can say: We disdain moral classical education and are shocked to find tyrants in our midst. Only a broad and contrasted education protects us against the contemporary trends and errors. ? Cheers, ? Paulo

The average person that attended western school education literally has no inclination as to why humanity exists... They have no idea concerning a spiritual factor in a material existence, no general comprehension of the rules of life because these differ from the rules of social and political structures. They are not aware of where they came from or why they are here nor where they are going in this life, and for this compounded ignorance we offer people degree's and make brilliant scholars of people that have never answered any of these questions for us. We have created a hierarchy of well lettered ignorance and made everything subservient to the passing advantages of the hour instead of wisdom, this is our political position today my friends. They are not at all concerned with what is good for the people, but what is advantageous to certain groups within the people. We do not appear to be able to decide what constitutes a good government and so therefore we have a tyrannical government entity. We still do not understand in our society why we should work together and still today in 2025 we do not. How can we be educated without at least a glimmer of realisation of the importance of co-operation? How can we become strong and powerful without keeping any ethical rules or accepting any responsibility for our own mistakes.
