?? Good to see proposed changes in relation to priority needs. It will be interesting to see how this works in practice with so many differing types of Homelessness. ?? However with geographical area not playing as much of factor, does it mean that there will be additional workload to an already overworked department? #homelessness #changes #governmentproposal #priorityneeds #geographicalfactor #sectorworkload #localconnectiontest #veterans #careleavers

Although flawless counts are impossible to come by – the transient nature of homeless populations presents a major difficulty –?the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates?that 40,056 veterans are homeless on any given night. Over the course of a year, approximately twice that many experience homelessness. Only 7% of the general population can claim veteran status, but nearly 13% of the homeless adult population are veterans. In addition to the complex set of factors influencing all homelessness – extreme shortage of affordable housing, livable income and access to health care – a large number of displaced and at-risk veterans live with lingering effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse, which are compounded by a lack of family and social support networks. Additionally, military occupations and training are not always transferable to the civilian workforce, placing some veterans at a disadvantage when competing for employment. ?? HARSH REALITY: Veterans & First Responders are dying by suicide at alarming rates September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to confront the stark realities affecting our community: ?? Veterans are 57% more likely to die by suicide than civilians. ?? At least 100 first responders die by suicide each year, with actual numbers likely higher due to underreporting. These figures represent real lives—individuals who have served our nation and communities, often silently battling mental health challenges. ?? Veterans returning from duty face a staggering rate of 21 suicides per day. ?? First responders—our police officers, firefighters and paramedics—are often left without adequate support, with more officers dying by suicide than in the line of duty. The truth is, these communities have been underfunded and underserved, with mental health resources that are often inaccessible or insufficient. At Skeleton Crew Adventures, we're committed to changing this narrative. We can’t let them fight these battles alone. Let's demand better support systems for those who have given so much. Share this post to raise awareness, offer your support and join us in standing against this silent epidemic. You are seen. What’s a VA Disability Aggravated Service Connection? It’s when the VA recognizes that your time in the military made a pre-existing condition worse. It doesn’t matter if the condition didn’t start during service—what matters is that it got worse because of it. The VA compensates for conditions that have worsened beyond their natural progression due to your time in the military. Plus, if a service-connected disability ends up causing a new, unrelated condition to worsen, that’s called a secondary service connection by aggravation, and it could mean more compensation for you. Here are a few examples of conditions that can get a service connection through aggravation: ? Asthma ? Back Pain ? Mental Health Conditions ? Flat Feet (Pes Planus) ? Knee Problems Think this might apply to you? Click the link to book a FREE strategy call with me today.
