“But What If It Works?” When I launched Tonjalovesdesign Interior Studio earlier this year, I had my doubts. What if no one hires me? What if it’s too much to handle? But then I asked myself: What if it works? Starting my own business hasn’t been without challenges—late nights, imposter syndrome, and steep learning curves. But the joy of creating spaces that blend functionality and beauty, and seeing the impact they have on people’s lives, makes it all worth it. Fast forward to the end of 2024, and here’s what “it works” looks like: ? 5 design projects started—4 residential and 1 commercial. ? 1 project completed (with more lined up for 2025). ? My designs are traveling as far as London, Graz, Berlin, Bern—and soon Los Angeles and New Zealand. Who would have thought?! ?? So, as the year draws to a close, I’m raising a toast to risks, resilience, and the power of asking: What if it works? To all my clients, collaborators, and supporters—thank you for believing in my vision and letting me bring yours to life. Here’s to 2025 and all the spaces we’ll transform together. ?? Exciting Journey Ahead ?? Since my mother, Sangeeta Khanna, launched her own company nearly a year ago, it has been an exhilarating yet challenging journey. Upon joining Surface & Design Studio, a microconcrete company, I encountered obstacles that have put my skills and resolve to the test. Here's what I've gleaned: 1?? Getting Started: Introducing unique products like ours takes a lot of planning. Figuring out who wants our products, what they like, and who else is out there selling similar things has been key to our success. 2?? Getting Noticed: Big companies already do what we do, so standing out has been tough. We've worked hard to show people who we are, using social media and other ways to tell our story and build trust. 3?? Keeping Things Running Smoothly: Making sure everything runs well behind the scenes is important. From getting materials to making and delivering our products, we've worked hard to be efficient. 4?? Managing Money: We've had to be careful with our money. Figuring out how much to spend on different parts of the business while still making a profit hasn't been easy, but we're getting there. Even though it's been tough, starting Surface & Design Studio has been really rewarding. Every challenge we've faced has made us better, and we're excited to keep growing and improving.
