"The sun does not care if you sign an executive order telling it to stop rising each morning. It just continues to rise."? This powerful quote from Matt Bernstein (he/they) truly resonates today with our ongoing journey toward human rights and dignity. Trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals have been a vital part of humanity for centuries, and no executive order can change that truth. No one should ever feel lessened, forgotten, or undervalued. As a NeuroSpicy First-Gen Latina and human ally, I've experienced firsthand the joy and enrichment of embracing diversity, even more so as a New Yorker. It's important to understand that bigotry in any form hurts us all. The time for just standing by has passed. We must take action together: connect with our representatives, participate in peaceful protests, and engage in uplifting conversations with those who might still be learning. The new admin seeks to reverse decades of progress made by LGBTQI+ and DEI advocates; however, together, we’ve faced even tougher battles in the past and won. We will do it again. Together, when we stand against discrimination, we can help create a world where everyone has the chance to shine and be their true selves! #HumanRights #Advocacy #AllyshipInAction

The 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act is a moment to reflect on the immense progress made in advancing equality and justice for all. This landmark legislation, signed into law in 1964, outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, and paved the way for a more inclusive and equitable society. While we have come a long way, we must also acknowledge that THE FIGHT FOR TRUE EQUALITY IS FAR FROM OVER. There is still much work to be done to address systemic racism, inequities, and barriers that continue to marginalize and oppress communities of color. As we celebrate this milestone, let us rededicate ourselves to the unfinished work of the civil rights movement. By standing united, amplifying diverse voices, and taking action to dismantle oppressive systems, we can honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. #1964CivilRightsAct #60Years #CivilRights #Equality #EqualityMatters

After last night's election results, it’s tempting to retreat, to feel defeated, to shut down, and turn away from what’s happening. But we can’t afford to look away. These results don’t just signal a shift in policy—they represent a direct threat to women's rights, racial justice, and the fight against anti-Black racism. They strike at the core of equity and justice for millions. My initial reaction was to shield myself from the weight of it all, to pretend it doesn’t impact me. But with privilege comes responsibility. This will impact each of us—across borders, across communities. I refuse to ignore the consequences because I know that silence is complicity. Instead, I commit to: ?? Using my voice to hold leaders accountable and to challenge those who align with policies that strip away human rights. ?? Listening and amplifying the voices of women, Black communities, and all who are most impacted. ?? Actively engaging to spread truth, question biases, and fight for justice. This isn’t just about the next four years. It’s about the future of rights, equality, and dignity for all. The fight is only beginning. #WomensRights #AntiBlackRacism #JusticeForAll #WeWontBackDown #Accountability #StandUp

Today, we honor Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. This day marks a crucial milestone in our history, but it also reminds us that the journey toward true equality and justice is ongoing. At PCC, we recognize that the fight for racial equality is far from over. The echoes of past injustices still resonate today, and it is our responsibility to address these issues within our workplaces and communities. Juneteenth is a time for reflection and action. We are making sure to recommit to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, where equality is not just an ideal, but a reality for everyone. #Juneteenth #RacialEquality #DiversityAndInclusion #HRConsulting #CommitmentToChange

A few weeks ago, we hosted a AAF Seattle event at DNA , talking about the state of DEI and our own commitments - in our company and community. As an LGBTQ+ and Black-owned? agency, we are not only diverse owned and led, but we believe in the power of diverse people, ideas and experiences to drive innovation, creativity, effectiveness and efficiency. However there has been a slow “quiet quitting” of DEI efforts across corporate America and a growing political drumbeat of blaming DEI for everything from faulty airplane doors, cargo ship accidents and even failures in security for a former president. I appreciate the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report on Business and Racial Justice that documents the business benefit of diversity. Edelman finds that ONLY employers are trusted to address racism in the US and that employees expect their employers to continue to invest MORE in DEI today than ever before. As business leaders, we must continue to take the lead - with “confidence, courage and clarity.” Thank you Edelman. #DifferentWins You can download the report online, or watch this brief video: https://lnkd.in/gJZDERUc

?? **Exploring 'Centering White Victimhood' in Keith Boykin's 'Why Does Everything Have to Be About Race?'** ?? Continuing my deep dive into Keith Boykin's thought-provoking book, I've encountered a compelling section titled "Centering White Victimhood." Here's what stood out: 1?? **White Fragility:** This part echoes themes from Robin DiAngelo's "White Fragility," discussing how defensive reactions during racial conversations can significantly hinder progress toward racial equality. It's a critical look at the obstacles to open, productive dialogues. ?? 2?? **Affirmative Action Myths:** In Chapter 7, Boykin challenges the widespread myth of affirmative action as reverse discrimination, presenting a robust argument for its necessity in achieving true equity in opportunities. ?? 3?? **Layers of Privilege:** Chapter 8 illuminates the complex layers of privilege, reminding us that racial advantages exist independently of socioeconomic status or gender. It’s a powerful call to acknowledge and address these privileges. ?? Each chapter adds another layer of understanding to the critical conversations about equity and privilege in our society. ?? How do you approach discussions about privilege and affirmative action in your professional or personal life? Let's share insights and learn from each other! #SocialJustice #KeithBoykin #WhiteFragility #AffirmativeAction #WhitePrivilege #DiversityAndInclusion
