For too long, adult learners have had to navigate the complex career landscape without the support of digital tools designed to meet their needs. The Future Finder Challenge fostered a multidisciplinary community to guide career navigation technology toward greater accessibility and impact for adult learners. We could not be more proud of the work we’ve accomplished together. Now, two years after its launch, we’re bringing the challenge to a close. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched the #KidneyXSustainabilityPrize, a $7.25 million challenge to drive meaningful change in the sustainability of kidney care. More than half a million Americans receive life-sustaining maintenance dialysis, relying on technology that consumes large amounts of water and power, putting patients at risk during resource shortages. These sustainability challenges present an opportunity for innovation and collaboration across the dialysis ecosystem. The #PowerYourFuture Challenge will offer participating teachers and students hands-on experience envisioning and designing clean energy solutions that can make a real-world impact. The challenge will also connect CTE students to the vast career opportunities in clean energy and other vital infrastructure industries. Next week, the CTE Momentum team will host a virtual information session. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Education and the challenge team will present an overview of the challenge and answer questions submitted in advance through the registration form. Partnership is prerequisite if we hope to scale and share innovative solutions to some of our most intractable health challenges. We’re pleased that the #LymeXDiagnosticsPrize continues to model novel ways that government, philanthropy, and the private sector can work together to advance health innovations. This month, the competition announced that Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics will serve as industry supporters in phase 3 of the LymeX Diagnostics Prize. Both private clinical laboratories will provide non-financial in-kind support to help teams deepen their understanding of the diagnostics industry, how clinical laboratories operate, and how to work with commercial laboratories. Phase 3 teams will have the opportunity to visit both Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics facilities to learn more about the clinical laboratory environment and their workflows, materials, and instrumentation. The LymeX Diagnostics Prize, designed and produced by Luminary Labs, is a $10 million competition from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to accelerate the development of Lyme disease diagnostics. This industry support marks a major leap forward for the unique public-private initiative established through the LymeX partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
