On the chart dated July 27, Nos. 1-9 are new entries, the first time the top nine are debuts since the May 29, 2021-dated ranking. Related Eminem Achieves 11th No. 1 on Billboard 200 With ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup… 07/21/2024 Joining ENHYPEN with debuts in the top 10 are Eminem, Clairo, Johnny Blue Skies (aka Sturgill Simpson), Billy Strings, Cigarettes After Sex, Megan Moroney, Phish and HARDY. The lone non-debut in the top 10 is Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, which falls from No. 5 to No. 10. Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Today I have been touched by the pick of destiny as I think that embracing accessibility (a11y) feels a lot like being a rocker who thrives on breaking the rules. Just like the rebellious spirit of rock ‘n’ roll, pushing for accessibility means challenging the status quo and fighting for inclusivity in spaces that often overlook it. It’s about standing up against the barriers and creating a world where everyone can participate equally, regardless of their abilities. Breaking the Rules for a Cause ? Rockers have always been known for their defiance, their refusal to conform to societal norms. Similarly, advocating for accessibility requires a rebellious spirit. It means questioning why digital platforms, services, and environments aren’t designed with everyone in mind. It’s about challenging designers, developers, and decision-makers to prioritize inclusivity from the ground up. (nowadays we have states laws as avalid as rock & roll ones ??) Building Empowered Communities ?? Just as musicians form bands and communities to amplify their voices and talents, those of us advocating for accessibility find strength in numbers. Creating communities of like-minded individuals who are passionate about a11y helps to share knowledge, resources, and support. These communities become a powerhouse for change, where we can exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and provide moral support in the face of resistance. Digital Solutions: The New Age Instruments ?? In the same way that digital technology revolutionized music, it’s now providing us with the tools to revolutionize accessibility. From screen readers and voice recognition software to accessible design practices and inclusive development frameworks, digital solutions are our instruments. They empower us to break down barriers and create digital spaces that everyone can access and enjoy. Empower Yourself and Others ? Rockers don’t wait for someone to hand them a record deal—they go out and perform, build their following, and create their own path. Similarly, when it comes to accessibility, we can’t wait for change to come from the top down. We need to take initiative, educate ourselves and others, and be proactive in implementing accessible practices in our own work. By doing so, we empower not only ourselves but also those who follow in our footsteps. Support from the Digital Underground ?? Just like the underground music scene that supports up-and-coming artists, there’s a thriving underground of digital accessibility advocates and resources. From online forums and social media groups to webinars and workshops, there are countless ways to connect with others who share your passion for a11y. These platforms offer invaluable support, advice, and camaraderie as we work together to make the digital world more inclusive.
