Every step I take this May isn't just a stride forward; it's a testament to resilience, hope, and the unyielding spirit to conquer Multiple Sclerosis. Nine years ago, I was handed a diagnosis that could have defined me, but instead, it ignited a fire within me to fight back. Living with MS has taught me the true meaning of strength, but I'm not just fighting for myself. I'm fighting for the 130,000 individuals in the UK who face similar battles every day. This May, I'm embarking on a monumental journey: 150 kilometers to raise funds for life-changing research and improved access to treatments. The May 50K isn't just a challenge; it's a lifeline for those like me who refuse to let MS dictate our lives. With every step, I'm leaving behind my limits and pushing boundaries, not just for myself but for the MS community worldwide. Together, we can redefine what's possible and leave MS where it belongs - behind us. But I can't do this alone. I need your support, your generosity, your belief in the power of collective action. Please, join me in this fight by making a donation to support my challenge. Together, let's make a difference and change lives. Click the link below to donate and be a part of something truly transformative: https://lnkd.in/dj72VTQu Thank you from the depths of my heart for your support. Together, we're unbeatable?? #TheMay50K #mssocietyuk #fightmultiplesclerosis #leavemsbehind

Marathon Update: Running for a Cause! ??♀? I am running the London Marathon to support MS Society in memory of my mom's sister, Fotini. I am halfway through my target and I still need your support! Multiple Sclerosis is a relentless condition, and every contribution can make a significant impact. You can read more about the cause, its significance to me and how to donate here: https://lnkd.in/dN6GKpne The funds raised will directly support the MS Society, aiding vital research and support programs to ensure that no one faces this illness alone. Every penny counts, and your donation can truly make a difference! Here's how you can help: - Donate: Please consider making a contribution, big or small, to support this cause close to my heart. - Share: If you are unable to donate, sharing my fundraising page can help amplify the message and inspire others to contribute. Together, we can provide hope and take steps towards a future without MS. Let's make a difference! ??

OK, I'm the writer in our family, so I hope my brother, Mark, and sister, Dawn, (both high school math teachers) don't make fun of my attempt at a mathematic equation. Here it is: In three days, I will join my wife, Jennifer, and her team – Team MonsterS – for Walk MS in Frankenmuth. This will be my 25th time participating in Walk MS since I was diagnosed in 2000. With this, I'm calculating what it will take to encourage you to support my efforts to benefit me, Jennifer, and the nearly 1 million other people in the United States living with this chronic progressive disease. Here is the breakdown of what it will take to raise the remaining $2,000 to reach my $2,600 goal: ? 200 people to donate $10 (there is strength in numbers!) ? 80 people to donate $25 ($1 for each year I’ve lived with MS) ? 40 people to donate $50 ? 20 people to match my $100 donation ? 10 people to donate $200 ? 4 people to donate $500 ? 1 person to donate $2,000 (it never hurts to ask!) As many of my connections to donate whatever they can to help find a cure for this unpredictable disease. Too many numbers? Yeah, you're right. I'll stick to writing a clear and concise message. Here it is: I am asking you to please donate today and support my efforts in ending MS forever. https://lnkd.in/gKaSrU6A #multiplesclerosis #walkms #empowerment

This wonderful and generous message made my day, week, year so far. In a world where learning has become an exorbitant expense for the learner and for society at large, this generous donation will hopefully change the way governments, learning institutions and donators support learning. People who are invested in their learning should also be surrounded with people who are just as invested in their success. Not having a school debt means: - they can focus on learning, not work 3 jobs while studying - they can enter the business world and focus on doing their best - instead of stressing out on bills, working crazy hours, not eating well, and doing without - they can in turn contribute more to society by focusing on the important work they are doing and, who knows they might donate their own well earned dollars to future learners. Imagine the impact to society? Let this not be the only investment made to our future. #leadbyexample #investinpeople #makelearningfree
Dr. Ruth Gottesman, the 93-year-old widow of a Wall Street financier, has donated $1 billion to Bronx medical school, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with instructions that the donation will be used to cover tuition for all students going forward. Dr. Gottesman is a former professor at the school. The donation is not only the largest one ever given to the school, but also important because it is going to a medical school in the Bronx, NYC’s poorest borough. The moment the students realize their tuition is paid for is everything???

When I started at William & Mary in 2020, I never imagined myself becoming an entrepreneur. Now, four years later, I'm ecstatic to announce that Aaraj and I have been selected for Batch 17 of Lighthouse Labs RVA's startup accelerator program. What began as an idea between two friends at the first floor tables of Swem Library, VerbaAI LLC has blossomed into collaborations with multiple state leagues of the League of Women Voters, and a strong working relationship with Microsoft's Democracy Forward team. At VerbaAI LLC, we are dedicated to building software that fortifies the information environment. From tracking emerging narratives to detecting cutting-edge deepfake videos with Forentify, we are committed to making sure that accurate, trustworthy information prevails in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The past year and a half has been a thoroughly rewarding experience, and I’m excited to continue to take this venture, as Mike Tierney would say, “beyond the ivory tower.” My time at W&M was an instrumental part of my entrepreneurial journey. I wouldn’t be here without the immense help of the William & Mary Global Research Institute and the W&M Entrepreneurship Hub and the opportunities they gave me to present my work. My intellectual curiosity was fostered at DisinfoLab W&M, a truly unique organization at the college. Leading the lab for the past 3 years, as well as co-founding the lab’s software incubator was without a doubt the most impactful experience I had as a student. I’ll never forget the countless hours spent poring over research reports and debugging MVPs with students who shared this same entrepreneurial vision. And of course, I wouldn’t be here without the dedication of my fellow Tribe alum and co-founder Aaraj, the hardest working person I know, who has been on this journey with me every step of the way. There are so many people who have helped get me where I am today, but in particular, I would like to thank Mike Tierney, Ryan A. Musto, Ph.D., Dennis Smith, Amy Oakes, Ana Carcani Rold, Shane Szarkowski, PhD, Tim Ryan, Graham Henshaw, Tracy Gronewold, Tom Plant, Megan Hogan, Dave Leichtman, Ethan Chumley, Matthew Masterson, Tim Carroll, Dhruv Gupta, Chris Hoyle, Jasmin Alsaied, Roger Yee, Barbara A. B., Navneet V., Ellen McCarthy, and Doowan Lee for their unwavering support through this journey. Here’s to the future of VerbaAI!
We had a stellar group of applicants this round, including what might be the largest numbers ever from Virginia and the Richmond area. We are so excited to introduce you to our Batch 17 Founders!
