“The?Space Development Agency?(SDA) is a?United States Space Force?direct-reporting unit tasked with deploying disruptive space technology.[1]?One of the technologies being worked on is space-based?missile tracking?using large global?satellite constellations?made up of industry-procured low-cost satellites.[2][3][4]?The SDA has been managed by the?United States Space Force?since October 2022.[5]?By February 2024 the SDA had 33 satellites on orbit.[6]?SDA intends to have at least 1,000 satellites in?low Earth orbit?by 2026.[7]“ ? “SDA satellites are the first to have direct-to-weapon control, as noted by SDA's technical director, Frank Turner. This capability allows for a seamless connection between the satellite data and weapon systems. The Beta satellites will attempt “extremely difficult” contacts with aircraft and missiles in flight, Turner said.?[63] https://lnkd.in/eYiuw7vS

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, April 11, for Falcon 9’s launch of the USSF-62 mission to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The approximate 10-minute launch window opens at 7:25 a.m. PDT, 14:25 UTC, and 16:25 CEST. If needed, a backup opportunity with the same launch window is available on Friday, April 12. This will be the third launch of the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched two Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on Landing Zone 4 (LZ-4) at Vandenberg Space Force Base. About the USSF-62 mission: WSF-M (Weather System Follow-on-Microwave) is the next-generation operational environmental satellite system for the Department of Defense (DoD) of the United States. It will replace the microwave wavelength weather forecasting capabilities of the DMSP Satellites. Ball Aerospace was selected in late November 2017 as the prime contractor for 2 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) weather satellites with a passive microwave imaging radiometer instrument. It hosted a government-renewable charged particle (ECP) sensor space weather payload developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory. The radiometer leverages the Ball-built Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Microwave Imager (GMI) instrument. The mission will improve weather forecasting over maritime regions by taking global measurements of the atmosphere and ocean surface. After stage separation, the booster of the Falcon 9 rocket will make a flip-maneuver and start a boost-back burn, which will have a duration of about 20 seconds. The booster will then make a landing attempt at LZ-4 (Landing Zone 4) at the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. So, people around the area should expect a sonic boom short before the landing. Flight direction is to the south of Vandenberg, along the coast of California, and weather permitting, it should be very good visible for a long time. SpaceWERX, in partnership with United States Space Force, has awarded a STRATFI contract to K2 Space to launch its first Mega Class satellite on a mission code-named "Gravitas” in February 2026. The mission will demonstrate the ability of the Mega Class satellite bus to proliferate across all orbits, with key demonstrations in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). The groundbreaking mission received support and funding from multiple United States Department of the Air Force organizations, including the Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power PEO, The Space Development Agency, the Space Warfighting Acquisition Delta, the United States Department of Defense's Space Test Program, the Space Force's National Space Test and Training Complex, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. Orion Space Solutions (Orion), a subsidiary of Arcfield, has secured an additional contract from the U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) to extend its work on the Tetra-6 mission. This four-year award builds upon Orion's existing Tetra-5 prime contract, focusing on advancing refueling technologies in space. The Tetra-6 mission aims to showcase a distinct refueling approach compared to the one utilized by the Tetra-5 spacecraft. Currently, the Tetra-6 SmallSat prototype is in development with a planned launch in 2027, following the Tetra-5 mission by two years. Both missions will be stationed in geostationary orbit (GEO) and are expected to operate for at least two years. https://lnkd.in/gJBqzECJ

I’m really excited that SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) is headed back to orbit next year as part of the nation’s effort to develop OSAM spacecraft that can be built, expanded, moved, refueled, serviced, or even deorbited at the end of life. Part of the solution is a flexible and universal grapple and connection interface. Our patented solution is FuseBlox. DARPA asked us to make it reversible gender and transfer loads, power, and data. Done. The Air Force asked us to handle extreme lateral launch g’s. Got it. NASA asked us to add cryo fluid transfers. Working on it. Now we have a 1/2U passive plate option to future proof satellites that might one day need decommissioning services. Thanks to our friends at Rogue Space Systems Corporation we are raising our TRL on this product line. Put one on your next spacecraft! #OSAM #SpaceGA Blink Astro #CONFERS #ISAM
FuseBlox is headed to space in 2026 aboard the Rogue Space Systems Corporation OTP-3 mission. More details on this payload hosting agreement in the link below. #spaceisgo https://lnkd.in/eeknujcQ

The Space Force’s “Victus” series, aimed at showing the service can respond to new developments in orbit on tactically relevant timelines, gained steam Oct. 4 with the announcement of two new missions in 2026. Victus Surgo and Victus Salo, as the new missions are called, will offer new wrinkles to the “Tactically Responsive Space” (TacRS) effort by testing a new system for maneuvering in orbit and aiming not just at low-Earth orbit but geosynchronous orbit as well.

The increasing counter-space threat and rate of technological change are reframing our approach to space operations.
Chinese satellites in geosynchronous orbit are maneuvering at high rates, practicing orbital warfare techniques, studying other spacecraft, and testing new ways to evade threats—and Space Force and industry leaders warn the U.S. must learn to maneuver in response.
