Appreciate being able to share some thoughts about our story and key problems for children and young people with chronic ill health and disabilities in our health care system this morning at Child UnLimited's Not-For-Profit Roundtable! No matter the disease, condition, or disability, we share so many issues in our travels through complex health care. A few problems we share that I spoke about: coordinating complex care between medical silos; transitioning into and between the child and adult health systems; working between the health system and multiple complex other systems like education and the NDIS; and access to quality support for the young person AND their network of relationships. Working together gives our voices more power, and improving these things improves the journey and experience for all children and young people, no matter the illness, condition, or disability!

An Outward Bound residential isn't just for schools. Recently, our Loch Eil center has been welcoming a number Young Carers Groups. Why Outward Bound? ?? An Opportunity for a break: Our residential offers young carers a chance to step away from their daily responsibilities and into nature. A time to have fun, be carefree, and learn new skills like skimming stones on the lake! ?? Creating a Supportive Community: Outward Bound provides a space for young carers to meet others facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of community, reducing isolation, and building a support network. ?? Promoting Mental and Physical Well-being: The focus on physical activity and nature immersion in our program has shown positive effects on mental health, offering young carers a crucial opportunity to rejuvenate and enhance their well-being. ?? Encouraging Personal Growth: Through reflection and personal development, Outward Bound helps young carers recognize their strengths and set inspiring goals for the future. Over the next year we have plenty of opportunities for young carers to experience the joys of an Outward Bound residential whether that's through a 5 day residential with their local young carers group or even coming away on a Summer Adventure. Outward Bound are here to support those young people and Adventure Funding is available to help them ensure funding isn't a barrier to accessing our courses! SimpleCitizen recently partnered with a group of government, non-profit and local service organizations to help new arrivals complete employment authorization documents. Our software helped eligible attendees self-generate their immigration forms, while volunteer attorneys and accredited DOJ representatives reviewed them for legal accuracy. To me, this is a partnership that demonstrates what scalable access to justice solutions can look like when you bring together for-profit tech businesses, legal aid providers and community organizations to solve urgent problems.
