Scottie Scheffler's wife, Meredith, did not join him in Augusta this weekend because she is pregnant with their first child. On Saturday, it was reported that if she went into labor prior to him teeing off on Sunday, he would withdraw from the Masters and forfeit his chance at a second green jacket. At that point, he was leading the field at (-7). If you are not a golf fan, I'll spoil the surprise for you: Scottie finished the tournament at (-11) on Sunday, becoming a Masters champion for the second time in 3 years. I read many, many comments that called out how foolish this would have been. But the one that stood out to me most was this: "He'll be a dad for decades, but his kid will have to live with the guilt of causing his dad to lose the Masters for his whole life." When your identity is rooted in what you do and your accomplishments, I can see how that comment rings true. Scottie's identity is found in something much greater than a green jacket. Much greater than his accomplishments. It is rooted in Christ Jesus and His finished work upon the cross, defeating Satan, Sin, and Death. Amazing perspective by Scottie on this Monday morning. The future of the PLL and lacrosse as a whole is very bright! Why because of its LEADERSHIP. What Paul Rabil and his brother Mike have done building the PLL from the ground up in a few short years is putting the sports/business world on notice. Where I believe their leadership has exceled, is their agility (which he even mentions in one of the clips) and taking creative risks to think differently and draw attention to a non-traditional property, bringing it into the mainstream. As a fan of the sport, sure it's easy for me to watch/engage. Had the pleasure of watching Chelsea vs. Aston Villa live at Stamford Bridge recently. ? The energy of the crowd, the precision of play, and the unmatched atmosphere was great to relive! Gratefully, the match saw no significant injuries—just the usual knocks. But this got me thinking: ?? How does the approach to injuries, specifically concussions, differ between leagues like the MLS and EPL? ?? A fascinating 10-year study compared the two leagues, shedding light on key differences: https://lnkd.in/gdHEtd6P ?? Concussion incidence per 1,000 athlete exposures: -MLS: 20.22 -EPL: 18.68 (no significant difference in risk) ? Return-to-Play (RTP): -MLS players miss an average of 37 days (7.3 games). -EPL players? Just 10.9 days (0.6 games). ?? ? Performance impact: -EPL nongoalies show decreased stats post-concussion (fewer games started, assists, shots). ?? -MLS players experience no significant performance dips—a testament to their longer recovery protocols. ? Career longevity: -Surprisingly, no significant differences between concussed and uninjured players in either league. ?? ??
