The Embraer EMB-120 ‘Brasilia’ was designed in the mid-1970s as a twin-engine regional aircraft with approximately 30 seats, primarily serving short-haul destinations. However, its limited range restricted its operational potential, and multiple safety incidents raised concerns about its reliability. Additionally, the aircraft’s turboprop engines became outdated as the industry shifted towards more efficient jet engines. The EMB-120 entered the market during a period of significant change in the regional airline industry, facing competition from newer aircraft with advanced technology and better performance. These factors collectively contributed to the aircraft not achieving its full potential in the market. Credit : Flight Drama 2024-11-20 I DAC668 #aviation

??Flight test campaign of a system capable of autonomously flying a FAR 23 aircraft, through the implementation of a Supplemental Type Certificate. As for now, it will however use a safety pilot. According to the article, it is capable of generating alternative routes for pilot approval, as well as two-way spoken communication with ATC. Interesting!
We're thrilled to announce the first flight test campaign using a Merlin Pilot-equipped Cessna Grand Caravan 208B! A first for the industry, this test campaign marks another big step toward an approved supplemental type certificate (STC), paving the way for future applications to other FAA Part 23 aircraft. It also reinforces our commitment to certified autonomy across both small and large aircraft platforms. Read this feature by Jack Daleo in FLYING Magazine to learn more: https://lnkd.in/d89Euivj

? Interested in seeing how #Dillon is crucial in the performance of airplanes? There are numerous intricacies that go into assembling and maintaining aircraft, specifically their engines. SWISS Airlines overhauls their engines after approximately 8 years of flight. This is where #Dillon dynamometers come in as a trusted, reliable component of their process. Check out the amazing video below by SWISS Airlines and see if you can spot our AP Dynamometer! https://lnkd.in/g977w6Ep #DillonAP #APDynamometer #Aircraft #Aviation #SWISSAirlines #SWISS

How long from the first flight of a conforming eVTOL can we expect the Federal Aviation Administration to issue the TIA? Answering this question is a guess, due to the novelty of the AAM sector. However, we can use as a comparison three Boeing aircraft that received TIA in the last three decades. The last figure should be an outlier, but the trend shows that the time between first flight and TIA is increasing. For a PDF: https://bit.ly/3XzvwZU. #aam #evtol #faa #tia #certification

This chapter serves as a crucial steppingstone before delving into the realm of space exploration. It underscores the essential role of engineering in making space travel a viable reality.
The Boeing 2707-300, part of the Boeing 2707 program, was designed as a supersonic airliner to compete with the Concorde. It featured a delta wing, a distinctive nose that could be lowered during takeoff and landing for better visibility, and could accommodate around 250 passengers. One of its unique characteristics was the swing-wing design, allowing the aircraft to sweep its wings back during supersonic flight for reduced drag and improved aerodynamics. It aimed to achieve speeds of Mach 3, enabling faster transatlantic flights. However, the Boeing 2707 faced numerous challenges, including high development costs, environmental concerns about sonic booms, and the emergence of more economical subsonic aircraft. As a result, the project was eventually canceled in 1971, marking the end of Boeing's ambitious venture into supersonic commercial aviation. #Boeing2707 #boeing #boeinglovers
